Tulum is the hottest ticket on Riviera Maya, and Loco Tulum is the newest signature restaurant that you’ll want to visit when you’re visiting the area.
Created by chef Idan Lifshitz, Loco Tulum’s Mediterranean dishes will tantalize your palate and offer a delightful dining experience.
Every day thousands of travelers from all over the world come to wine and dine in this tropical paradise that has become a haven for those seeking a vacation beyond the cookie-cutter, prepackaged holidays and Loco Tulum delivers.
Tulum has it all — from ancient archeological sites and eco-parks that the entire family can explore to outrageous international music festivals that go on for days. And of course, astounding restaurants, such as Loco Tulum, will keep you well-nourished during your stay.
Tucked away in the mangrove jungle of southern Tulum on the border with the Sian Ka’an reserve, you’ll find a white street sign that reads “Stop I’m Loco Tulum.” It marks the location of one of the soon to be favorite dining experiences for the real gourmand.
The setting is well-past the high trafficked areas of Tulum beach and nestled among the most exclusive and highly acclaimed luxury resorts and villas. Guests staying at Nomade, Be Tulum, Suenos Tulum, Hip Hotel and Los Locales will be thrilled to indulge their palate here within a short stroll from their resort.
This remote location is where jet-setters and Hollywood celebrities such as Al Pacino and Elle McPhearson come to revel in the healing and rejuvenating waters of the Caribbean Sea. Unpretentious, simple, and pure LocoTulum’s culinary team of impresario waiters will captivate patrons with intriguing combinations of regional ingredients in a fun, low-key and most importantly, relaxing environment.
The Loco Gringo staff sampled the delights of Loco Tulum. Everyone concurred that the service, food, and ambiance are on point.
In a beautiful and happy coincidence, Loco Gringo’s reservation specialists dined there during the same week. The first instance was a party of five celebrating Akumal’s very own Chef Daveed. The party included LocoGringo’s Alex and yours truly. Loco Tulum’s very talented staff provided the perfect environment for a lively and boisterous reunion among friends.
We were fascinated by the eclectic, gastronomic mix of Loco Tulum’s seasonal menu.
We started with the wood oven pizza, homemade bread, and Caesar salad and followed with a sequence of their main dishes. The stars of the evening were the Veggie Pasta with mushrooms cream, truffle oil, broccoli, vermouth, fresh parsley and basil along with the Grilled Salmon served with grilled asparagus and mushrooms.
The “Diva” in this venue is the whole fish prepared in Tabun. This dish comes with a 20 – 30-minute waiting period, but it’s well worth the wait. Dessert, too, was a captivating combination of a homemade brownie with salted caramel and key lime cheesecake with raspberry sauce worthy of a standing ovation.
