A Look at The Month Ahead

Can you believe it is October? We can’t.  It seems like it was just the New Year and suddenly we are facing a fast-approaching winter season.

On the horizon…

Between now and mid-November there are many discounted places to stay. It is the perfect time of year to visit because there are not as many people visiting, there are some fabulous festivals coming up at the end of the month, and many of you probably have vacation time you haven’t used yet, and if you don’t use it before the end of the year, you will lose it. You can find all of our current specials here.

Not So Familiar Places

Have you heard about Aventuras Akumal? So many people know of Akumal. They consider Akumal to be the main beach, Half Moon Bay and the pueblo. However one of the earliest established parts of Akumal is Aventuras Akumal.

Where the Heck is Aventuras Akumal You May Wonder

Well, it is south of the center of Akumal just north of resort complex of Bahia Principe. This quiet residential area has been in existence since the 1980’s. The road into Aventuras is still a dirt road which sometimes sucks, but it is worth the occasional-bumpy-ride. This half-mile stretch of road is lined with private homes and condos, many for rent.

The beach is wide and sandy, with an all-inclusive resort at each of the far ends of the bay. You can stroll the beach, or sit under a palm tree and there are enough passers-by to make people watching interesting. Snorkel right off-shore, and there is dive shop for certified divers. The Beached Bikini is a small beach bar if you are looking for a cold cerveza or a plate of fish tacos. If you  desire a quiet beach locale for the family this winter, we invite you to consider Aventuras Akumal.

Later This Month

If you have not seen our newsletter in recent weeks one of the best festivals coming up at the end of the month is the Festival of Life and Death at Xcaret, October 30 – November 2. Mexico celebrates their loved ones who have passed, and this is a time of commemorating their lives and love. What we like is the surreal feel of walking through Xcaret with people and park staff in Catrina costumes and face paint, candles light the way through the park giving a mystic feel to the evening air. This time of year focuses on cultural exhibits and traditions by a variety of artists and artisans you don’t see regularly. This year the Riviera Maya and Xcaret are featuring the state of Zacatecas near the Pacific coast of Mexico, sharing their deep-rooted traditions and customs. Get your tickets for admission to Xcaret and participate in festival at no additional charge
