Top 5 Things To Do If The Sargassum Floats In

A delicacy to some, but not so for others

The sargassum seems to be floating in and it is a phenomenon that, unfortunately, affects all countries in the Caribbean in recent years.

Believe it or not, we had guests from Japan last summer where were obsessed about taking the sargassum home with them.  They explained that in Japan they eat it and the seaweed is very expensive.  They wanted to know where they could buy suitcases to haul the seaweed Japan.  😲 🤔

Here at Loco Gringo many of the guests have been pretty understanding about it. A few guests we have tried our best to help as much as we can.  Its a force of Mother Nature that none of us have ever seen before.  It is unpredictable where it can show up and when.

We have reminded guests that although the beach may not be idyllic at times, the Riviera Maya and Yucatan is full of great things to do.
