We recently took a trip to Bacalar, just south of Mahahual in the Cost Maya to revisit some old haunts. First on our list the Fort of San Felipe where the Bacalar Museum is located. This is a double bill-good bang for your buck attraction that shares the history of the southern state of Quintana Roo. It is impossible to reiterate the wealth of knowledge found in the Bacalar Museum, and only photos can show the beautiful view of the lagoon from the San Felipe Fort. This is a trip worth taking if you are interested in the Caste War, Pirates of the Caribbean and the southern Mayan communities that shaped this region.
