shopping in the Riviera Maya

Hammocks are probably the most popular Riviera Maya and Yucatan souvenir – right up there with gaudy, giant sombreros. They are the Mayan bed, more common in local houses than mattresses. The hammocks sold here are hand made by locals. Buying hammocks in family owned shops like this one in Macario Gomez is sustainable tourism. We LOVE lounging in a hammock with a good book or a refreshing cocktail.
