Photo Travel Journal of Valladolid Mexico

Valladolid. Close to the Riviera Maya. Colonial Yucatan City. Glorious change from the beach. Great Yucatecan food. This is one of our favorite getaways when we are looking for something different. When we are having a dinner party, the local municipal market is where we like to shop for local produce, tortillas and fresh meat.

This is a photo journal of some of our recent trips to Valladolid. Enjoy!

The main Cathedral in Valladolid. Valladolid has seven churches in the city and interesting neighborhoods

that correspond to each church.

The Convent de San Bernardino de Siena in Valladolid. Great little museum in the Convent, which is open

7 days a week! Entrance is super cheap and well worth a visit.

The main square in Valladolid across the street from the Cathedral. This is the original fountain built in the 1700’s.

This is where families and friends hang during the afternoon and the evenings.

This is the local cenote in the city of Valladolid. There are various cenotes on the outskirts of the city also

worth seeing. There is a restaurant in the cenote that is fun for lunch or a snack specializing in Yucatan food.

The famous fountain made of talavera pots in the Casona restaurant just a block from the main square.

A favorite street ‘The friars Street’ where you can shop, have lunch or stroll to the Convent. This was the

original path that the Friars took from the Convent to the Cathedral. Beautiful!
