Family cenote

For many years Riviera Maya has been one of the favorite destinations for families. This beautiful touristic area has a lot to offer when it comes to entertainment and relaxation. Kids and teenagers are of course not the exception. Parks, reserves, cenotes and many other places provide everything you need for a dream vacation for everybody. In this post you will find the best activities and places especially for large groups or families that include kids and teenagers. A vacation should not be stressful in a place that is surrounded with family friendly options.

For Kids Who Love Nature

Howler Monkey

If your kids are more focused on natural places they will find excellent activities nearby. Aktun Chen is one of our favorite Eco parks in Chemuyil pueblo because is not as crowded as the rest. Kids have plenty of space to run around, and see animals in their natural environment. Monkeys, deer, birds and beautiful cenote to snorkel and see cat fish. Zip lines are not too high, perfect for beginners or kids afraid of heights. Punta Laguna is another amazing choice if you want to see monkeys. This reserve is far from the civilization and features a beautiful lagoon meant to be crosses by canoe. There is also a well-like cenote and a zip line to discover more monkeys and birds at the other side of the lagoon. Kaan Luum lagoon in Tulum is a place perfect for relaxation. Water is crystal clear and with a beautiful blue color, not too shallow and perfect for swimming. Family style palapas and bathrooms allow you to spend the entire day and bring your own snacks and refreshments.

Adventure For Teenagers

Xplor Zip line

If you are traveling with teenagers, the activities must be a little bit more adventurous to catch their attention. These parks have that adrenaline touch and will keep them excited and active all day long. This motorsports theme park has it all; monster trucks, paint ball riffles to kill “zombies” and a muddy jungle ride on ATV. Perfect for parents and Kids who love speed.

Nothing is too crazy to be part of this park; Lemon trees that offer lemonade from a faucet attached to them. Dark rooms that take you through the different biomes where you use all your senses except for your sight. Towns that appear to be upside down, make you smaller or bigger. You will spend the entire day trying to figure out things, this park is a mix of wonderland and Ripley world.

  • Xplor Park & Xplor Fuego

Whether you visit during the day or at night, the zip lines in this park will make you scream. Xplor Park has the highest zip lines circuit in the Yucatan Peninsula. There is a total of 14 zip lines divided into two circuits. The underground river and ATV ride through the caverns is also a must.

Affordable Beaches And Cenotes

Xcacel beach

Vacationing for large families can be very expensive when you don´t know what places to visit. There are incredible options that can fit all the budgets. These places are great because you can bring your own food and drinks and some offer snacks and drinks at low rates.  On the top of our list are the cenotes in Xpu Ha for less than $200.00 pesos per person. Jardin del Eden is a dream come true for divers and snorkelers. Beautiful place to swim and you can bring your own food and drinks. They also have burgers, sodas, water, sandwiches and chips. Cristalino cenote is right next to Jardin del Eden cenote, but this one has a shallow area for kids who are not fan of depths. Entrance fee is only $100.00 pesos per person and you can bring food and drinks too. Xcacel-Xcacelito beach is also on the top of our list of affordable places. Featuring a beautiful clean beach and a small cenote. Showers and bathrooms and the most delicious coconuts with chile at the entrance. Donation fee is only $80.00 pesos per person and you are more than welcome to bring snacks and drinks.

As an extra tip we highly recommend our travelers to rent a car for their holidays. The cost of a vacation decrease considerably when you have your own transportation. This will allow you to visit places on your own time without having to pay for pricey cabs or expensive tours. Car rental companies in the area are used to offer minivans and express vans. For groups of over 6 people a minivan rental can be the perfect idea to cover up to 3 different places in one day trip.
