Very few people know we are currently, as the Mexican saying, “of long table cloth”. Which means we are celebrating. The traditional Feria del Carmen has started since July 8th, and we continue to invite everybody to join us in this immense party. Visitors from Cancun, Akumal, Tulum, and even other States keep coming to dance and enjoy the current festivities. The Feria del Carmen is in honor of the Carmen virgin, which might seem like a religious celebration, but it screams of tradition and culture. So, if you happen to be around or about to arrive, you cannot miss this celebration.
Unlike Eco parks or other Touristic attractions in the area, the Feria del Carmen will not cost a thing! The entire area includes mechanic games for kids and adults, live music shows, dancing and a lot more. For families, this is perfect, because the kids are entertained and the adults can dance the night away. Entrance to all the shows is also FREE, and there is even FREE transportation for visitors from Puerto Aventuras area. As a Mexican fair, the Feria del Carmen has a lot to offer this year. Playa del Carmen is the host for this incredible celebration, and we cannot keep calm when it comes to parties.
Kids are the center of attention at the Feria del Carmen. Lots of food stands with sweets, traditional gastronomy, sweet corn, cotton candy, and anything else you can imagine. All kinds of games and for FREE! The afternoons start with performances of traditional dancers, to warm up for the main show, which is usually a singer or a Mexican band. Dancing is almost mandatory, nobody is paying attention to your moves because everybody is too happy to judge. For the food lovers, this is pretty much the closest to heaven. And for kids, this is similar to a Mexican Disneyland. No matter where you look, you will see art, culture, and an endless display or tradition. This is the schedule of live performances for the upcoming days:
Los Ratrillos (Reggae music) – Friday, July 12th
Patty Santana & Armando Ferral (Traditional Mexican music) – Sunday, July 14th
Miguel Inzunza (Romantic music) – Monday, July 15th
Fernando Delgadillo (Acoustic music) – Monday, July 15th
Orchestra Jaranera, Arturo Gonzalez (Traditional orchestra music) – Tuesday, July 16th
*Bands/Singers start around 9:00 pm, but there are previous dancing shows. *Vendors accept only cash (US dollars or pesos).
This family-friendly celebration starts every day at around 6:00 pm. But arriving early with your kids is suggested, so they can avoid crowds at the mechanic games. The Feria del Carmen will continue until July 16th, every day from 6:00 pm until midnight (sometimes even a little after). The Feria del Carmen is located at the Plaza 28 de Julio, also known as the old Municipality park, on 8th street, between 15th and 20th avenues, right next to Walmart, in Playa del Carmen.
FREE transportation is available from Puerto Aventuras and other neighborhoods in Playa del Carmen. If you want to catch the transportation, the meeting point is at Puerto Aventuras (Delegacion/Pueblo) at 5:00 pm. The first return transportation will be at 7:30 pm on 8th street between 30th and 40th Avenues. The second return to Puerto Aventuras would be at 11:00 pm, same location. You can also request round transportation from/to your Vacation home, by sending us an email to [email protected]
