Environmental Art in the Costa Maya

I so love this fish sculpture on the pier in Mahahaul. The entire fish, created by artist Sabrina Coco, is made of recycled material; soda cans, plastic bottles, beer cans, tops of food cans, old plastic bags, and more! Named ‘El Pez’, this fish sculpture represents more than a Caribbean fish. All the items used to create El Pez were foraged from the beach. El Pez is a reminder to take care of our oceans, seas, and lagoons that cover more than 70% of the planet.
