Carnival Season in the Riviera Maya continues with the Cozumel Carnival, February 27th to March 6th, 2019.
Cozumel Island is close to Playa del Carmen and accessible via ferry. Visiting the island for the carnival is a great way to spend the day during your stay. You can dive or snorkel in Cozumel in the morning and stay for the parades and entertainment in the afternoon and evening.
Crowning the King and Queen of the Carnival, costume contests, live music, and parades are highlights of the event. Each day of the carnival features different activities.
Please note that the carnivals in the Cozumel and throughout the Riviera Maya are family-friendly. Kids are more than welcome to see the shows. Local authorities have also made extra preparations to make sure the island is ready and welcoming to visitors.
Cozumel Island is a favorite spot for divers and snorkelers due to its amazing coral reefs and clear waters.
The island’s incredible views make it an ideal spot for a carnival, especially for the parades which take place along the pier. Beautiful sunsets serve as the perfect frame for the afternoon parades. The whole pier from the main plaza to the Cruise ship port will be decorated. Be ready to take the camera with you to get amazing shots.
The parade of floats is one of the best things about the Cozumel Carnival.
Dancers and singers dressed in sparkly and scandalous costumes ride on the floats and throw candy and souvenirs to families. You can also wear a costume and join in the fun. There’s lots of dancing, clapping, and live music around the floats.
Floats will be featured on March 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. The concerts have a different schedule. Please let us know if you would like the itinerary for more details.
