If you are searching for a Family-friendly local Market, El Pueblito at Mayakoba is your best option. Not only they have plenty of products, but they also organize family events regularly. Their location also makes it relatively easy to find it and to get transportation to it from your vacation home. And if you are worried about the language barrier, don’t be! The vendors and attendees speak both English and Spanish. No matter what you are looking for, you will always have someone to guide you or assist you during your visit.
At El Pueblito Farmer’s market, you will find all kinds of stuff, from the budget-friendly to the most exotic articles. Endless options in Gastronomy, beauty and hygiene products, crafts, handmade jewelry, clothes, accessories, etc. One of our favorite things is that gastronomy is not limited to authentic and local dishes. You can find Argentinian, Mexican, Italian and more. There are also Vegan and Gluten-free options, typical beverages, and candies too!
The events at El Pueblito are suitable for little kids. Shopping might be exhausted but there are girls sometimes offering face painting for the little ones. Other days they will display a movie to entertain them while Moms and dads do the shopping. It is a family-friendly environment and kids are expected to arrive and more than welcome to join their parent’s activities. Food options are also kid-friendly. Hot dogs, burgers, fries, popcorn, etc. There are restrooms on site and friendly staff to direct you and assist you during your visit.
El Pueblito farmer’s market is inside Mayakoba complex, between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos. If you are staying in Akumal it might take around 30 minutes for you to drive there, from Playa del Carmen it would take around 15 minutes driving. The entrance to El Pueblito is, of course, FREE, and it is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm some Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and/or Sundays *subject to special events advertised on their Facebook page.
The activities we love the most are the movie nights, and the themed nights or Mexican nights. Food stands might accept payments with debit or credit card, but sometimes due to the signal, it will not possible to charge them. We highly recommend you to bring enough cash for shopping, even better if your cash is in Mexican Pesos. Arranging your transportation in advance is also recommended because public transportation is not available onsite.
If you e-mail us to [email protected] we can happily arrange your round transportation to El Pueblito at Mayakoba and request the current activity schedule.
