One of the best local chefs from Merida is here in the Riviera Maya this week and is featuring a delicious dining event with a purpose.
On Thursday, November 15, Chef Regina Escalante will be the guest chef at the Fuego Restaurant & Cantina for the NIGHT CATCH event. Chef Regina will put her talents to use at this unique culinary experience of the catch of the day.
Cocktails begin at 7:00 pm and Dinner is at 7:30 featuring the local catch of the day.
Topping the meal all off with the proceeds benefiting the special needs school in Playa del Carmen: Centro de Atención Multiple – CAM Artículo 41 en Playa del Carmen.
Chef Regina Escalente began following her passion for food and cooking when she was 17. Her culinary path led her to Portland Maine where she trained with Chef Cheryl Lewis, developing her appreciation and skills of cooking with local products.
Then it was off to France. She continued her culinary studies and had the opportunity to cook with some of the best Chefs and in famous Michelin rated restaurants around the world. But her love for her homeland in Yucatan brought her back in 2013. She worked with Chef Roberto Solis at “Nectar” to then start her own restaurant in 2014 called MERCI.
Merci restaurant belongs to the worldwide non-profit organization called SLOW-FOOD, forming part of the “Alliance of Cooks,” which promotes a controlled and sustainable consumption of products made under stringent standards of quality, creating healthy relationships between producers and diners.
The price is $1190 pesos per person.
