With so many cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula, it is almost impossible to explain the unique beauty of each. We have listed all the cenotes in the Riviera Maya in our Loco Gringo Directory so you can tour through as many or as few as you wish. But we have some personal favorites that take us not only into a great cenote but add a road trip into the mix. All of the cenotes we are going to list are just a short drive away (under 2.5 hours) and will bring you into areas of the Yucatan Peninsula you might not have ventured to.

Cenotes of Coba – This group of cenotes are a great addition to your Coba Ruins adventure. If you have seen Coba and missed the cenotes, they are worthy of a trip just to see these three natural wonders. One entrance fee gets you into all the cenotes, and each provide a very different experience.

Kin Ha Cenote – This cenote is actually a group of cenotes on one very large property on the Cenote Route by Puerto Morelos. If you just show up and pay your entrance fee you will access two beautiful cenotes, Cenote Kin Ha and Cenote Flora Blanca. Kin Ha is a large cavern where as Flora Blanca is a open cenote with four platforms for jumping. Kin Ha offers all day tours that include more cenotes, lunch and zip lining in the jungle. All day tours include pick up or you can drive out to Km 22 on the Puerto Morelos Cenote Road and ask for the all day tour option.

Cenote Samula – This is a big cenote just outside of Valladolid. You can make it an all day affair or you can slip on while visiting the colonial city of Valladolid. Jumping into the cenote is fun as the exterior walls are not too high. If jumping is not your game, take the easy way in and use their stairs. The cenote is located to the west of Valladolid just off Hwy 180.
