On those rainy tropical days, a cheap movie is always a great idea! Playa del Carmen has two movie centers and Cancun has various movie theatres. Our favorite day to go is Wednesday afternoons, when there are cheap tickets, hardly anyone in the theatres, and fresh popcorn.
Wednesdays are cheap movies days with a single adult ticket priced at 19 pesos. That is $1.50 USD for a great flick. Now you know why we like to go to cheap movie Wednesday! The movie theatres in Playa del Carmen are located at the Centro Maya mall on the highway as you come into Playa del Carmen from the south or at Plaza las Americas in the Ejido.
American movies are in English with Spanish subtitles with the exception of children’s movies which are in Spanish. (no subtitles) If the favored movie of choice is a foreign film, the subtitles will be in Spanish.
This is a rainy day activity, a chill day or a great place to hide out from the tropical heat in the air conditioned theatres. The theatres are just like ones back home with Cancun having VIP theatre options if you want the VIP experience.
