Mexico is an artist’s community. For centuries all forms have art have shaped the country and its culture. Folk art, muralists, painters, singers, poets and actors are what attracted many visitors to the Mexico originally. Now beautiful beaches, colonial architecture, sustainable tourism and food attracts so many more visitors.
Many art forms are still the back bone to understanding and appreciating Mexico. In Yucatan cities, the arts is an established institution. In the Riviera Maya, the arts community is expanding and finding its feet. Many theater, gallery and performance arts options go under publicized.
As locals we seek out any new or established artist communities. The arts communities in Playa and Tulum are going exponentially. Merida has old favorites that we love to go back to again and again.
