Some travelers might think they know the Yucatan Peninsula like the back of their palm. But there are still a lot of wonderful places yet undiscovered.
We love off-the-beaten-path locations. These are places not frequented by tourists, have excellent service, and create unforgettable experiences that make you want to go back again and again and share them with your loved ones.
The Cozumel Pearl Farm is one of those places. We visited there recently and gathered some details so that on your next trip to the Riviera Maya you can fall in love with the Cozumel Pearl Farm just like we did.
Cozumel is a popular destination for travelers who love snorkeling in its precious Coral reefs.
Less-known, however, is the very north end of the island. This area is mostly known by local fisherman only since it is about 30 minutes away from the Ferry station in Cozumel. It’s also on this part of the island where the Cozumel Pearl Farm is located, almost at the very end of the Northside. Its secluded and beautiful beach allows visitors to have privacy and enjoy their tours without being disturbed or overwhelmed by other travelers or tour operators.
The beautiful and natural surroundings are wonderfully kept by the family-owned farm. The relaxing ambiance you will experience is truly unique. The pristine beach and vibrant blue colors of the water have no equal.
The Cozumel Pearl Farm is considered the only of its kind in the Caribbean.
Don Francisco, the owner and founder, dreamed of retiring with his own business to provide a better life for his family while rescuing and preserving the Pinctada Radiata oyster, also known as the Atlantic Pearl Oyster. The rare oyster was almost an extinct species back in 2001.
The sustainable project began with research and testing. Cultivating pearls is a process that takes many years. The Pinctada Radiata oyster species is very small and the farm is still perfecting the technique to manage and increase their pearl production.
The tours are provided to cultivate love and appreciation for the oysters of the region. With the purchase of a tour, you can help continue the research and preservation of these beautiful oysters while gradually eliminating their risk of extinction. You can also purchase farm-harvested pearl jewelry during the tour.
Unlike many other places, Cozumel Pearl Farm appreciates and welcomes every member of your family. This includes children of all ages and even pets. You can bring your furry friend. Let us know when making your reservation so the staff can be prepared and ensure a wonderful experience for everyone.
As of this writing, the cost of the tour $110 USD usd per adult, $85 USD per kid from 6 to 12 years old, and kids under 6 years old are free of charge.
The estimated time of the tour is about six hours, which includes the fascinating speed snorkeling, a 45-minute boat ride to explore the turquoise colors of water and learn the cultivation process in the farm after having a delicious lunch.
For couples, we highly recommend the overnight experience, the most romantic option in Cozumel island. We can request private tours and romantic overnight experiences at Cozumel Pearl Farm on your behalf. Please send us an e-mail to [email protected] and confirm the size of your party.
Cozumel Pearl Farm is a dream come true for any true explorer. We are sure you would not want to miss this incredible place.
