This vacation rental is a great escape with all the modern comforts of home but with a spectacular view of sparkling blue water. Just steps away from the water, guests can soak up the sun on the beach and saunter over to two of Akumal’s favorite restaurants, La Lunita and La Buena Vida. Playa Blanca has the ideal location to explore Akumal from Yal-Ku Lagoon to Akumal Bay by foot, bike, and golf cart. Adventurers ready to discover more of Riviera Maya will find themselves just a short drive to the most important attractions. Tulum is 15 minutes from Akumal, PGA Golf is only 5 minutes away, and all the most sought after natural eco-parks are less than 30 minutes from Playa Blanca.

Fashionable, Functional & Fabulous

Part of a private and small residential building with only 8 units, Playa Blanca number welcomes parties of up to 5 guests. The decor is modern and chic with bright green and blue hues, warm white stamped concrete and wood grain tile flooring. The fully equipped kitchen features modern appliances to prep delicious meals and drinks during your stay. There’s also a dining table for 5 plus a high top table for 3. The living space has a large L-shaped built in couch for lounging, a smart TV, and a convenient workspace. 

Playa Blanca 4 has floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and windows allowing guests to gaze upon the Caribbean from the kitchen, dining, living areas, and even the master bedroom. These sliding doors lead to a fully furnished terrace with a table for outdoor dining and patio style furniture to take in the view. The master bedroom has a full bathroom with a bathtub, a king bed, and wall-to-wall accordion style folding shutters for privacy. The second bedroom sleeps up to three with a queen bed and a small double, and its own en suite bathroom. This unit has AC in both bedrooms and living room areas to cool off from and there are shaded palapas on the beach to share among all condominium guests.

The property was well maintained and was just like the photos online. Appliances were updated and worked.
We had not visited since 2003 and was happy to see that Half Moon Bay had not changed as much as other places had, it was still pristene with a quite tranquility that we were hoping for. Half Moon Bay still has a very healthy reef to snorkel both north and south sides of the bay. The condo building’s outside gardens were beautifully manicured and our daily maid service was welcomed and appreciated. The large bedroom with king bed does need a new ceiling fan, only thing that didn’t work. All A/C units worked fine. We enjoyed swimming at Yal Ku lagoon.

The condo was an excellent choice. The sunrises were beautiful, and the location was close enough for us to do everything we wanted to do. It had all the amenities of home. The Master Bedroom and shower were amazing. We enjoyed our 8 nights here. The only improvement I could suggest is to fix the stove and oven. The burners did not burn hot, and took a long time to heat up a pan, and the oven would not come up to temperature.

Good location with snorkeling, swimming, walking all within reach!
Really cute condo and well appointed.
Warm shower was a temporary issue but groundskeeper responded quickly.
We loved it and will go back in future!

Perfect location right on the beach with the best equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities I’ve ever had in a rental. For people who love to cook there was nothing missing - great knives, blenders, pans, quality dish ware, even a few starter spices and the reverse osmosis water is a great eco feature to eliminate plastic bottles. Staff were attentive and responded immediately when AC in the back bedroom broke & they brought in a new unit and repaired it within hours. A great unit to rent & enjoy a Mexican getaway.

We had a lovely nine days in Playa Blanca #4 on Half Moon Bay. This was our fourth trip to Akumal, and we thoroughy enjoyed this apartment. Very comfortable and really well-equipped. The perfect location, steps from the beach, and between the two restaurants. It's an easy walk to into Akumal. No complaints at all.

We really can't say enough good things about the Turtle's Nest, Playa Blanca 4 itself is a perfect blend of fashion and function. The decor is beautiful and the colors are inviting and invigorating at the same time. Libby and Paul pay so much attention to detail. We really appreciated the water filtration system- even the ice! When we arrived, we found delicious smelling honey soap/shampoo/conditioner along with baked goods from the wonderful cafe that we ended up visiting daily. Walking through the condo for the first time, we immediately felt "at home." We stay in Airbnb's often and this is one of our favorites! Some other perks: nice coffee maker, everything you need in the kitchen, consistent WIFI throughout the entire place, great water pressure, a king bed in the main bedroom (with an Amazing view!), snorkeling gear, bags, hats, an assortment of things you might have accidentally forgotten like aloe and bug spray, a fabulous Guest Book with recommendations and information about Akumal and the surrounding areas- just to name a few. Our 7 year old was highly impressed with the games and art supplies just waiting for her! I also really appreciated having contact info for someone who works at the property office. I was able to easily reach out through What's App with questions and get immediate support. This property comes with daily cleaning. While we didn't need this, we wanted to support the people providing the service and it was an amazing offering. Each day, we'd come back to a spotless and perfectly tidied up place. The week that we were there, the area received a good amount of sargasso seaweed. Libby and Paul sent us pictures and offered other options even prior to our arrival, knowing that it would impact our experience. Their transparency and level of genuine concern was notable! Ultimately, we didn't change our plans and arrived not fully understanding the extend of the sargasso impact. Akumal Bay area was heavily hit which impacted our ability to go into the water directly outside the condo, and also meant that the smell of seaweed was prevalent. After we arrived and fully understood the impact, Libby offered to speak with us directly and provided so much support! She offered a variety of options to help us with this challenge! Ultimately, we decided to stay and easily found alternative fun ways to spend each day . Libby and Paul were instrumental in helping us to navigate these adventures! We also want to mention that there are 2 really awesome restaurants within short walking distance! La Buena Vida has such a fun atmosphere and really good food/drinks; La Lunita's food blew us away! We even found vegan/gluten-free options for me. Basically, we wouldn't have had the wonderful week that we did have without the generous support from Libby and Paul! We can't recommend this place (and them) enough!!!

I highly recommend Playa Blanca 4. It's very cozy and comfortable. The decor is Spanish-style and makes you feel like you are really in Mexico. It's in a nice central area for activities it's a 20 min drive to Tulum. High recommend renting a car in Mexico! It allows you to explore and made us feel safe having control of where and when we were leaving. Plenty of local food near Playa Blanca 4 within a 5 min drive of the condo. The host was incredibly nice and stayed in constant communication with me before and during my stay. I really appreciated them checking in on me the day I arrived since I was traveling alone that one day. They even had a cleaning service included in the rental. It was nice to have them come in and tidy up while we were away exploring. My favorite part was waking up in the morning with some nice local coffee and watching the sunrise on the balcony. Throughout the condo, you can also hear the waves crashing all through the day and night which was incredible. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience staying here. Libby and Paul's condo was a great spot to spend the week enjoying the ocean. Playa Blanca 4 itself was very clean and cozy with many thoughtful touches. The beds were comfortable and the bedroom A/C units helped us stay cool while sleeping. The view of the ocean is great and you can hear the waves from every room! The beach in front of the condo was very relaxing and the water was perfect for swimming. The ocean floor is a bit rocky right in front of the condo, so water shoes may be helpful for walking in and out. The location is great, with a couple restaurants within a short walk, more about a mile away, and about a 20 minute drive to Tulum. We worked part of the week and the wifi worked well for voice calls, streaming, etc. Overall, a great spot!

Probably one of the best Airbnb’s we have stayed at easily! Loved all the personal touches and design of the entire space, it felt like a home away from home. The hosts were such quick communicators as well!The Airbnb had amazing ocean views and such a peaceful area. The ocean in front of the complex was so calm. We rented a bike from the front office to go around town! Definitely wished we could’ve stay longer and we will come back again!

We have stayed in many AIrBnBs in various places and Turtle's Nest (Playa Blanca 4) tops all of the rest, and not just because of the unparallelled view and beach access. Libby and Paul put such care into their place, thinking through so many conveniences and comforts, like providing shampoo, sunscreen and coffee. The large couch was comfy, the decor was lovely and homey. They were quick to respond when we had questions -- and having Dr. Esquivel do your COVID test before flying home is the move! We rented a car in Cancun (highly recommend, no problems driving), spent 10 glorious days, snorkled throughout Half Moon Bay, visited Chichen Itza and Tulum (next time, Coba!), enjoyed several cenotes (Azul and Eden were our favorites -- go in the a.m. before the crowds come), did a Mezcal and Mole tasting (very fun!), hung out on Xpu Ha beach (lunch on the beach at Serenity Club was surprisingly delicious and fresh) and just relaxed and read on the beach in front of the condo, listening to the sound of the surf. The North Akumal area is lovely and quiet. We enjoyed several meals at La Lunita just down the beach (our favorite, many delicious vegan options for one of our son) and loved Casa del Pueblo in Akumal Pueblo -- best pico de gallo we've ever had, and the giant serving of fish and octopus ceviche was delcious and a meal in itself. Everyone we met was lovely, warm and friendly. Go!

The large couch was comfy, the decor was lovely and homey. They were quick to respond when we had questions -- and having Dr. Esquivel do your COVID test before flying home is the move! We rented a car in Cancun (highly recommend, no problems driving), spent 10 glorious days, snorkled throughout Half Moon Bay, visited Chichen Itza and Tulum (next time, Coba!), enjoyed several cenotes (Azul and Eden were our favorites -- go in the a.m. before the crowds come), did a Mezcal and Mole tasting (very fun!), hung out on Xpu Ha beach (lunch on the beach at Serenity Club was surprisingly delicious and fresh) and just relaxed and read on the beach in front of the condo, listening to the sound of the surf. The North Akumal area is lovely and quiet. We enjoyed several meals at La Lunita just down the beach (our favorite, many delicious vegan options for one of our son) and loved Casa del Pueblo in Akumal Pueblo -- best pico de gallo we've ever had, and the giant serving of fish and octopus ceviche was delcious and a meal in itself. Everyone we met was lovely, warm and friendly. Go!

Wow! How do I start? This place has the excellent view. It was very relaxing watching the waves moving just from the kitchen and living room. The location was quiet and chill. I felt like home when I was visiting this place. Highly recommended!

Great apartment in an amazing location. The beach is so close you can hear the waves roll in all day and night. Was a perfect place to work and relax for a week. Paul & Libby provided great recommendations for the area as well. Will definitely be back!

Gratitude. Wow. Felt like we picked up our home and moved it to the beach…….only it was even nicer. The decor, contents and layout were above and beyond. This was our first air B and B and I never expected anything close to this. My daughter has been to a number of them and says this was WAY above normal. The owners, property managers and cleaning staff were 10/10. If I win the lottery I’m buying the place. Felt like I won just being able to stay there. Worth twice the price.

We spent 5 amazing days in this heavenly condo. The views, location & amenities were amazing. Everything was as described and then some. Kitchen has all the necessary equipment, a/c worked a charm at night with through winds during the day, bathrooms are lovely and big and the place gets a daily cleaning. We arrived late at night due to congestion at Cancun airport and the process for getting access was seamless. The small, quaint town of Akumal is within walking distance as is a cenote/ lagoon, and some great restaurants. The beach in front of the condo is lovely, the sea is great, snorkeling is terrific and yes there is sargassum seaweed, but it gets swept up every morning by the condo staff. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation, away from the crowds but near to some amazing attractions (like Chichen Itza), then this condo is for you.

My wife and I have been staying at Airbnb places for the past five years. Libby and Paul’s place a.k.a Playa Blanca 4, is hands down the most spectacular place we have ever stayed at. When we saw the photos online, we knew it would be great, but nothing can compare to the experience of actually being there. The condo is absolutely beautiful! It’s so well decorated and comfortable. The view from the patio area is amazing. There is everything you could possibly need inside the condo. I had fun snorkeling in Half Moon Bay. The cleaning service was outstanding. Libby and Paul were great in how quickly they responded to my many questions. We had an amazing week there. If you are considering staying in this area of Mexico, definitely book Libby and Paul’s place. You won’t regret it.

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!!! The Turtle's Nest is thoroughly and thoughtfully appointed with a completely equipped kitchen (including basic pantry ingredients), hats, sunscreen, repellent, snorkeling gear, life jackets - you name it!! Libby & Paul have really thought of everything and have left notes to answer almost any question you might have. This is a gated area - safe & secure - and the condo and the grounds are immaculately maintained. It's a great launching point to explore ruins, cenotes, Tulum, or whatever makes your heart happy. We took collectivos several times - this is a very affordable way to get around and we had zero issues despite speaking very little Spanish. We ate at every little place nearby and hiked down the beach a bit to Jungle Fish. Every meal was freaking fantastic! Can't emphasize enough how perfect this place is - ALL the stars, two thumbs up, 10/10 would recommend!!!

Absolutely beautiful! We loved swimming in the bay and the lagoon. It was wonderful, the condo is absolutely gorgeous, we could hear the sea at night and we watched the lunar eclipse sitting on the deck. We were informed about the seaweed prior to our stay and it didn’t hinder our experience one bit. The restaurants that are both just a five min walk down the beach we’re fantastic, we had some delicious fish and some excellent desserts. We would definitely return.
