As ambassadors of this beautiful Paradise also called Riviera Maya, we are always on the search for beautiful and unique places. On our day off we enjoy spending time at beautiful beaches and finding great spots for snorkeling to bring new ideas for our travelers. This activity is very popular for locals and visitors and that is why Cenotes and beaches are often crowded in the area. But we have found another great place to practice snorkeling without having to give up your privacy. Casa Cenote or Cenote Manatí is our latest recommendation if you are traveling to Riviera Maya. It is 100% family friendly, it is not expensive at all and with accessible location. By far one of the prettiest places to visit and lately our favorite spot for snorkeling.

Unique Beauty

The uniqueness of this cenote is due to its proximity to the main road. You easily fall in love with its beauty and can fall literally in it if you don´t watch your step. The water is so clear that you can see the bottom of it, full of plants and fish. It is also big enough for visitors to snorkel, paddle board or kayak at the same time. The cenote is full of vegetation and surrounded with mangroves and trees. The beach is only 500 meters so you can snorkel in the cenote and switch scenarios easiy to swim in the ocean afterwards. The facilities at the restaurant in front of it might be a little rustic but the place provides all the services; a palapa restaurant with good menu and accessible rates, restrooms and equipment for rent.

Casa Cenote

Paradise For Snorkelers And Divers

The cenote is open and is perfect to practice snorkeling, it is also connected underground to the Ocean. This is why divers can explore the cenote and the ocean without having to walk the 500 meters that separate both. The marine life is perfect and water is not as cold as the rest of cenotes in the area. The cenote is no more than 6 meters deep but if you are diving you can start at the cenote and dive your way to the beach on the other side of the road. For divers there is a small diving shop nearby that provides the equipment at lower costs. There is no need for artificial light for divers since the Cenote is open and it allows you to see the bottom. For snorkelers you can bring your own gear but is necessary for you to pay the entrance.

Perfect Location And Affordable Fees

Places like Casa Cenote are always competing for visitors and the rates and location of this places make it one of the favorites. The entrance is only $150.00pesos per person and the life jacket is included but snorkel gear is extra. It is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. You can bring your own snacks and drinks or visit the restaurant in front of the cenote, which has a very good menu and affordable rates. What we do recommend you is to bring your own snorkel gear as the rental of fins, mask and googles can be pricey; round $20.00usd just for the equipment. The Cenote can be explored on your own, you don´t need to book a guide but you can do it for something around $30.00usd depending on the type of activity you want to book. The perfect location allows you to visit without renting a car, there are collectivos (public vans) that drop you off at the entrance on the highway.

The cenote is located in Tankah area but it is not the same than Tankah Caleta which is close to Tulum and on the beachside as well. When going from Playa del Carmen to Tulum on the freeway, you will see it on your left side. Is necessary to take the return and if you see the “Caleta Tankah” sign, it means you have gone too far. Casa Cenote or Cenote Manatee is before Caleta Tankah. It is one of the most beautiful places to snorkel, with areas that as not as deep and you can see clearly the bottom.
