Mexico is best-known for throwing epic parties.
We love music and dancing, and it seems like we will find any excuse to have a party. This year is no exception. From February 28 through March 5, 2019, we will celebrate the Carnival de Playa del Carmen.
Right in the heart of the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen will welcome thousands of national and international visitors to kick-off the upcoming spring season.
Plans for the festival have been in the works for months. The Gobierno de Solidaridad and other local associations have been preparing contests and floats. Anticipation for the carnival continues to build as hotels and organizations have confirmed their participation.
While calls for dancers, singers, and the King and Queen of the celebration are closed, you can join in the fun by dressing in costume and following the parades along 5th Avenue.
Carnival de Playa del Carmen is a terrific celebration you cannot afford to miss if you are visiting the Riviera Maya.
It is a family-friendly event, and we expect to have entertainment for all ages. The carnival begins with the traditional presentation and crowning of its King and Queen. Then, we burn Mal humor (bad mood), a life-size doll. The next few days are filled with floats, dancing, and concerts featuring national artists.
Parades will start on 5th Avenue with Juarez Avenue, continuing to Constituyentes Avenue, and ending at the new Municipality plaza.
The anticipation of this year’s entertainment is running high, and it’s been difficult for festival organizers to keep the entertainment highlights a secret. Rumor has it that Los Tigres del Norte will perform live. This is a coveted spot reserved for famous Mexican bands like Tucanes de Tijuana band, Ha-Ash, and Nelson Kanzela, who are known for their ability to electrify the crowd.
While the official itinerary for the Carnival de Playa del Carmen has not been confirmed yet, we will have more details as opening day draws near.
