WE enjoyed a fantastic week at Luna Azul. The location could not be bettered.
The apartment isn't huge but it doesn't have to be as you are literally on the beach. The apartment's only TV was in the main bedroom so it meant the kids congregated in there. On occasion we looked out from the balcony and were able to see a turtle, a ray and a shoal of large parrot fish in the waters below!
The only safety problem is that the balcony only has two wooden rails between you and the beach 3 storeys below. Our youngest child was 10 so not a problem but you would not want to rent this if you have toddlers/young children.
Don't know if there was air con bu the breezes through the apartment meant we wouldn't have neede it anyway.

I really appreciated how well equipped the room was. Not "luxurious" but extremely comfortable and everything you could need. Plus, having the beach right at your feet and the ocean view from pretty much anywhere inside made the whole experience mind-blowing.
One thing that I didn't realize until I got there was that the snorkeling right there in the bay is awesome!

Love the location. Grocery and entertainment close by. Good choices for restaurants and eating out if you choose. We love snorkeling at YalKu and Half Moon Bay. Very quiet. Not a place to go if looking for the night life.

Staff was helpful in recommending bike rentals.
The kitchen even had a new blender!
The queen bed was very comfortable.
We always felt safe there.
The price was in line with the area.

Our stay was wonderful. Jaun, the office manager, was invaluable at helping me get my passport and drivers license back after I realized that the airport money exchange teller had failed to return it to me. We LOVED the view and the quietness of the area. We also loved that everything we needed was either a short walk or bike ride away. Not having a car was not a problem, in fact, I would have regretted spending the money on one. The condo itself was spacious and charming and the bed was comfortable. The grounds were lovely. The only thing that would have been nice to have is is a tea kettle, as we do not drink coffee, so needed to heat our water in the microwave. Also some glass measuring cups would have been helpful.

This is the second time we've gone to Akumal and we have stayed at Luna Azul each time. Having not ventured out much it's hard to give you a comparison but we've been so satisfied with every aspect we haven't felt the need to research other facilities. Great place - great people - great atmosphere!

We stayed for a week in Unit #7, the Penthouse unit, at Luna Azul. This unit is on the fourth floor and there is no elevator, so you will get a workout taking the stairs. The view from this condo is absolutely stunning. There is a balcony and looking down on Half Moon Bay while relaxing on the balcony with dinner and drinks was amazing. This unit is well equipped, with a full kitchen and a bedroom with a king bed. We used just the one bedroom although there is a second bedroom that can be used as well. The only negative at all was the water pressure in the shower, which was very low at times. But Luna Azul has the most wonderful staff and the beach is constantly kept clean, unlike a nearby property we have also stayed at. We cannot wait to return to Luna Azul #7.

over the years, the reef has deteriorated, possibly due to pollution, and the snorkeling was not as good as years before. The accommodations were very nice and any repairs, if needed, were seen to immediately.

Everything was perfect. We even were invited to a maya wedding at Luna Azul. There was one thing we were unhappy with. It is diffucult to bath. It is very much stone on the bottom. But we were very happy to swim with the turtles one day.

We stay in this condo for 9 glorious days. It was very comfortable and well maintained. The location on the beach is wonderful.

We had a great stay on the 4th floor of Luna Azul. Everything was very clean and kept that way with daily maid service (she even did the dishes!). Loved the view from our 4th floor balcony. Shower pressure could have been better, but we found that to be true throughout our Mexico travels. Property is right in the middle of Half Moon Bay, convenient to Yal-Ku, several restaurants, and about a 20 minute walk to Akumal Bay. Loved our stay and hope to visit again sometime.

Pros We have stayed at the Luna Azul twice and would go back again. Our family loves this area of Quintana-Roo. Its not 'Cancun Crazy' just Laid back and relaxing. Swim with sea turtles, right in front of your condo, or walk down to the park (6 blocks) a small addmision and your swimming with tropical fish in the lagoon. rent a car and you are a short distance from Tulum, Coba or many other great day trips. Just remember to keep a full tank of gas!! our freinds ran out and that was a pain as the gas station was out of gas too!! Bring your snorkel gear and have a great time! Cons Wifi not stable. No onsite management. The living room floor flooded by maintenance crew. Must go to La Joya Condos for assistance and they were not friendly or efficient. Two level living area needs to be illuminated to mitigate potential falls.

Luna Azul condo was very nice. I'd recommend removing palm trees in the center, they block the view of the bay. The condos are all very nice. We've been going to Akumal for a number of years, this was our 8th trip to Akumal. The last 3 trips we've seen a lot of people from Playa del Carmen being vanned in for the restaurants, bars, shopping, snorkeling, etc. It's become very crowded and touristy. La Buena Vida food has gone down. We asked for water with our bottle of wine. They brought bottled water for $2. We've always used Akumal Dive Adventures. We were able to dive the first day. The remaining days they indicated weather conditions prevented them from going out. On our last day it was clear and sunny. We found out the hadn't got their Ins and can't go out. I scrambled and booked a dive in another town. Gas stations in the region all seem to try to steal from you. The last two trips they claimed I mistakenly gave them 20 peso instead of 200. This time both me and my wife witnessed the money. The guy did switch it from 200 to 20. He wanted 200 pesos. We called him out and made a fuss about him switching the money. He then change positions saying the 20 pesos was our change and we need to give him 10 pesos in return because he didn't have 10 pesos. The region and Akumal have changed a lot. It's gone downhill. Though the condos are very nice, the experience of the area is bad. This will be our last trip to the region. Sorry, I had really liked Akumal.

Excellent! Even nicer than the online photos. Very friendly staff, spotless rooms and what a view! Great decor. Great location. We will be back! Could use a couple more palapas as there are only two.

Condo was exactly as pictured. Perfect for family with teens (wifi worked great). Great breeze off the ocean and gorgeous views from the condo. Easy stroll down the beach to Buena Vida.

We had a very pleasant time; however, the unit was very noisy constantly. The windows/doors were not well sealed so the sound of the sea (which was particularly noisy this trip - mother nature) could not be drowned out. It would have been ok if the A/C wasn't overwhelmingly noisy. We used the fans during the day, but they were also very noisy at night - so we sweated the nights out without open doors, a/c or fans. The unit (or perhaps the entire building) needs updating. The shower head kept falling off if you moved it in order for it not to spray all over the floor. There were no pans for use in the oven. No BBQ available, so the only method was frying - not our style. But everyone was very nice; our cleaning person was meticulous; Nan, Juan, Eus were all helpful when needed.

We loved the condo's feel. It was mezo-eclectic in decor; very charming. And very important: the beds were very comfortable. The location is ideal as we were able to walk to restaurants in Half Moon Bay. We walked to Akumal Bay for breakfasts, dinners, and snorkeling. Also a 10 minute walk to Yal ku for snokelling.

Terrific lodging at a wonderful location. Spotlessly clean. Absolutely no complaints (except that Akumal is starting to get overrun by busloads of tourists from Cancun). Will keep coming back!

As a travel agent I would recommend this property to my clients, and I would stay there again. Unfortunately it rained heavily and was very windy so we did not have the opportunity to enjoy sun or sea!

Couldn't be more satisfied with Luna Azul! The staff, especially Juan with Green Eyes Mgt was most helpful & very professional & willing to help us with boarding docs (printing), came over one evening to ask us if Wi-Fi was working (it wasn't) so he updated it for us. Brought bicycle over to condo which was 3 doors down from his office. Very personable young man willing to go the extra mile! Would suggest in unit: hairdryer, flashlight for evening walks, swim fins (too big to pack) & possibly a water toy (boogie board). For Complex: more beach loungers & tell occupants to NOT SLAM SCREEN Doors! MOre water pressure would be ideal. Property was spotless, location is ideal. Low rating on 'gen cond 'due to amenitites (lack of loungers & individual unit not having flashlight, or swim fins). Otherwise great!

We had a wonderful stay in unit #7 at Luna Azul. It was very roomy, had beautiful views, and lacked nothing that we needed for our one week stay. The kitchen was very functional and well equipped. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect for us. We rented bikes for the week and found it so easy to ride all around Half Moon Bay and Akumal. Our only complaint was that the water pressure was a bit low in the master bedroom for the shower. Other than that it was perfect for us.

We have stayed in Luna Azul #7 twice and would definitely return. This is a Penthouse Condo on the 4th floor and the views with the wraparound windows in the living room are amazing. The kitchen is well equipped. The only downside is there is no elevator and it's quite a climb up the stairs, which would affect guests who may have mobility issues. When there are a lot of guests at LA, it's a scramble to grab lounge chairs and a palapa. The complex should add more chairs. Luna Azul is a great place to stay on Half Moon Bay.

We enjoyed our stay at Luna Azul Unit #8 on the top floor. The views of Half Moon Bay are incredible and everything was perfect.

Superb location, unit kept spotlessly clean. Close to several good restaurants. Easy walking distance to Akumal Playa.

We had a great time in Luna Azul #8. We felt like we were the only people staying in Half Moon bay it was so empty. Leyla our housekeeper did a fantastic job cleaning every single day. We can't wait to go back.

My family (5 of us) and I stayed at Luna Azul #4 for a vacation recently. The pictures do not do justice to the condo. This is the best layout of a condo that we have ever seen. The room is stepped down from the bedroom to the kitchen area and then once more to the living area and deck.. A wall of glass and side windows give you a great ocean view. The kitchen has a nice layout as well. There are windows in both bedrooms that open on both sides so you can get a nice airflow at night as well as the wonderful sound of the ocean waves lapping the shore. Maid service is daily and very effiicent. There is a small store a block away for basic needs ( and beer/wine) and a few restuarants walking distance. We had a car which I would suggest if you want to hit Tulum and Playa for a few days/nights. Overall a wonderful stay, we would definitely go back.

Great condo, right on the beach with good snorkeling. Akumal is a quaint town. Downside was that it smelled like a septic tank at the entrance to the property (could not smell in condos though) and lots of seaweed on the beach.

Great condo. We''ll be back.

Just what we were looking for. Quite, relaxed, and laid back. Our theme was "Book, Beach, Beer" and it fit the bill.
