Description

At La Bahia 1, the beach really is right outside your door. Open the patio doors in the morning, step outside with your coffee, and you are just a few sandy steps from Half Moon Bay and the Caribbean.

Its ground-floor location makes this longtime Akumal favorite especially easy to enjoy, with no stairs between the condo, beach, and water.

The Home

La Bahia 1 has a bright, colorful interior with an open living and dining area facing the ocean. Comfortable seating and a Smart TV make the living room a welcoming place to relax, while the beachfront patio extends the living space outdoors.

The fully equipped kitchen has granite countertops, modern appliances, purified drinking water, and everything needed for preparing meals at home. A breakfast bar provides additional seating, while the dining area keeps the Caribbean in view.

Both bedrooms are spacious, with ocean views, pillow-top mattresses, ample storage, and private en-suite bathrooms.

Outside, settle in with breakfast on the patio, relax beneath a beach palapa, or head into Half Moon Bay for a swim or snorkel. Snorkeling gear, beach chairs, and a portable cooler are provided, while hammocks and loungers offer plenty of places to slow down by the sea.

Housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday. 

The Location

La Bahia sits in the heart of Half Moon Bay, giving you a peaceful beachfront setting while keeping much of Akumal within walking distance.

Yal-Ku Lagoon, La Buena Vida, neighborhood restaurants, shops, markets, and dive services are all nearby. Akumal Bay is also within walking distance, making it easy to enjoy the area without getting into a car every time you want to go somewhere.

Cenotes, Maya ruins, eco-parks, beaches, golf, Tulum, and other Riviera Maya attractions are within easy driving distance when you are ready to explore farther.

  • Air conditioning is provided in both bedrooms and the living room.
  • Housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday.
  • Snorkeling gear is provided for guest use and is subject to availability and condition during your stay.
  • Beach palapas, loungers, and the outdoor shower are shared condominium amenities.

We really enjoyed our stay at our condo in Akumal. The view was stunning and the inside was beautifully decorated. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it seemed to be really well stocked with equipment. We really enjoyed the location as it was very quiet yet close to all the activities we were interested in. The sargassum was a bit smelly at times and prevented us from enjoying the beach, but we were aware of that issue when we made the reservation. We would love to visit at another time of year when we can enjoy the beach and water more.

We loved our second stay at ground floor La Bahia. It's a lovely and comfortable place that looks and feels like old Mexico - but with the rare addition of a washer and dryer. The kitchen was well equipped and the owner left us a welcome gift of drinks and snacks. We used the grocery delivery service to have basic foods available when we arrived. We explored the north end of Half Moon Bay - delighting in the two Lagoon snorkeling experiences - and discovering great sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls at the newly opened Que Onda Deli. We'd bypassed the Surf Cowboy in our last visit - but this time, with our grandboys, it provided a nearby and friendly spot to watch American football and international futbol games. We hadn't appreciated, nor understood, the sargassum that collected on the beach in front of the condo. It now shows up out of season and seems to be a result of global warming. It didn't seem to keep folks from swimming and snorkeling in the shallow bay. We walked everywhere but periodically called for a mototaxi if we were in a hurry - another new and welcome experience.

We loved our lovely and comfortable ground-floor condo with such quick and easy access to the beach/snorkeling. Office staff were great - and very helpful - allowing us to leave our luggage while we waited for the unit to become available and, again, when we left while waiting for an airport shuttle. Enjoyed exploring North Akumal- Yalku Lagoon folks allowed us in to see the sculptures and we loved the green juice and local coatis at the Jungle Cafe. Upon arriving home and realizing I'd left my computer at the airport, the staff of Akumal Direct were incredibly helpful in arranging to receive the laptop and get it to my daughter who had stayed on. Amazing customer service!

The unit is well stocked and comfortable. It's exactly as described in the photos, the office is right there to answer questions, and key pick up was super easy. We really enjoyed relaxing to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. It's handy for all you want to do in the Akumal/Tulum area. We come to this area a lot and it truly is a hidden paradise.

We had a pleasant stay in November. Good location. We rented bicycles but could have gotten around by walking as everything was located in a mile radius. Good food at local restaurants. Housekeepers were wonderful. Airport transportation was on time and friendly.

This condo and the location went well beyond expectations, that were already very high just based on other reviews and the web site pictures. Ground floor location was ideal, the management was efficient and welcoming, we could not have asked for more. A couple of good restaurants a very short walk away and a handy convenience store within metres. All the boxes well and truly ticked. An added bonus were visits by nesting turtles virtually at our doorstep

Sadly, we booked when it was sargassum season (March) but we biked to the beach and the nearby YAlku Lagoon - all is perfect!!!

Another wonderful stay at La Bahia. This visit was in #1. Excellent condition, beautiful decor and well maintained. One surprise was the TV - which is all app based. Bring your passwords if you intend to watch Netflix etc. No satellite stations

I was delightfully happy with the beautiful condo.
Clean and well cared for. The beach was great for swimming. I loved being near the little store and a couple of restaurants as we did not have a car. Thank you for letting us stay there! The office was very helpful, and staff was very friendly.

My husband and I had a fantastic time staying at La Bahia. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, the layout of the condo was very open and comfortable, the kitchen fairly well stocked, and best of all, it's fabulous to walk directly out onto the beach. The bed was a bit firmer than we typically like, but that would not deter us from staying there again. We love Akumal!

The home was beautiful and comfortable. The staff and neighbors was very welcoming, nice, and helpful. I would of loved to see the beach without gulfweed. The condo was located near town and store, which was helpful. We were just in time to see the bundles of turtle eggs. Without a doubt, we highly recommend this condo.

The unit was super clean, comfortable and cute!!!!! The owners thought of everything we may need in the unit- well stocked. I loved just opening the door and stepping onto the beach. The unit also has many huge windows that you can enjoy the beach from almost any location in the unit.

Communication was great. Response rate within minutes. Their staff was awesome as well. Very hospitable. There is no pool on site, but we were ok w that. The location is central to lots of attractions.

La Bahia #1 was perfect for our family. Everything we needed and more! Being right on the ocean is wonderful, especially at night, listening to the waves. The staff is very attentive, professional and friendly. We had 9 month old Amelia with us and she was so happy! Thanks so much!

The condo suited our needs very well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Security was good. This was our 26th trip to the Akumal area and La Bahia was as good or better than any other places we have stayed.

This condo is beautiful and well appointed. If you are headed to Akumal this is a must!!! Giving you access to great snorkeling, restaurants within walking distance, and peaceful surroundings. Staff at La Bahia was lovely and owners are quick to respond. Just make sure to check out the sargassum seaweed reports if you are unfamiliar with it. We are pretty flexible travelers so we walked up the beach to snorkel and enjoyed the nearby lagoon.

We were very happy with this place. It is clean, well cared for, comfortable, bright and cheerful. On site management was great as was our communication with the owners. The condo is in a great location with good restaurants within walking distance and snorkeling out the front door. We would highly recommend this place and we would return again.

It’s a very short drive to Akumal Beach which has a number of good restaurants and shopping. Recommend a car if you stay here as it’s about a 20 minute walk. Free parking is available outside the condo.The condo and beach are beautiful and exactly as advertised.Highly recommended!

The condo is clean and management friendly and helpful. Right on the beach, chairs and palapas to lounge, ocean breeze always kept us cool and the view is just stunning. Nice walk to town, great restaurants, easy snorkeling in the bay, so nice to be back in Akumal!

We have stayed in many different properties all over Mexico and this place was so amazing. Great location In Akumal. Area was gorgeous, clean and safe with great activities and restaurants near by. The condo itself has a great floor plan, gorgeous views and is well set up. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure!

Very comfortable apartment, literally on the beach (20 mts from the water), and perfect for a relaxing time.The apartment is great, has everything one may need to have a calm few days away from the other bustling and overcrowded places in the region.Thank you for allowing us to stay in your place. Would highly reccomend to friends, and for familys. The two rooms make it idea for a family or smaller group of friends. Amazing location.
