Description

Half Moon Bay 1 offers a combination that is hard to find in Akumal: the ease of a ground-floor beachfront condo with a private swimming pool all your own. Step from the living room onto the furnished terrace, settle into a lounge chair by the pool, or continue just a few steps farther to the beach and Caribbean.

Completely renovated in 2023, this contemporary 3-bedroom, 3-bath condo is designed for relaxed stays with family or friends. Ocean views fill the main living spaces, while its location in the heart of Half Moon Bay puts some of Akumal's favorite restaurants and snorkeling spots within an easy walk.

The Home

The open-concept living and dining area looks directly toward the Caribbean, with large glass doors connecting the interior to the beachfront terrace and private pool. It is an easy space to spend time together, whether you're having breakfast with an ocean view, relaxing after a day in the water, or watching a movie in the evening.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a cooktop, oven, microwave, coffee maker, cookware, and everything needed for meals at home. The refrigerator includes a purified water dispenser and ice maker, and there is also a separate purified water tap at the kitchen sink.

Two bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms. The third sleeping space doubles as a TV and entertainment room with a 60-inch Smart TV and is located between the main living area and one of the en-suite bedrooms. A third full bathroom is conveniently located nearby.

One of the condo's most useful features for families and groups is its flexible bedding. Each sleeping area can be arranged with either one king bed or two twin beds, allowing the setup to be adapted to your group.

Outside is where Half Moon Bay 1 really stands apart. The private pool sits directly in front of the condo overlooking the bay, giving you your own place to cool off without sharing a condominium pool. The furnished terrace, lounge chairs, outdoor dining space, and gas grill make it easy to spend much of the day outside.

When you want the sea instead, the beach and water are right in front of the property. Half Moon Bay is known for snorkeling, so you can head out to explore the bay and then come back to your own pool and terrace.

The condo also includes WiFi, a Smart TV, a washer and dryer, and covered off-street parking. Housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday.

The Location

Half Moon Bay 1 is centrally located on Half Moon Bay in North Akumal, putting you within walking distance of many of the area's favorite places.

Yal-Ku Lagoon is about a five-minute walk to the north, while Akumal Bay is approximately ten minutes to the south. Several popular restaurants are also an easy stroll away, making it possible to enjoy much of Akumal without getting in the car.

When you are ready to explore farther, the condo is conveniently positioned for discovering the Riviera Maya. Cenotes, Maya ruins, eco-parks, beaches, golf, and other adventures are all within easy reach.

Or stay right where you are. With your own beachfront pool, ocean views, snorkeling just outside, and restaurants within walking distance, you may find very little reason to leave.

  • The condo is fully air-conditioned throughout.
  • The private swimming pool is exclusively for guests of Half Moon Bay 1 and is not a shared condominium pool.
  • The third bedroom also functions as the TV and entertainment room and is a pass-through space leading to one of the en-suite bedrooms.
  • Housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday.
  • Direct beach and water access is available in front of the property.
  • No pets are permitted.
  • Half Moon Bay can experience seasonal sargassum, particularly during the warmer months. Conditions vary naturally with winds, currents, and weather and cannot be guaranteed.

We spent a week at the Half Moon Bay condo. The place is clean, comfortable, and beautifully updated. We were all very happy with it. The location on the bay is also great. We partially chose this spot because it's in between two of my favorite places to eat. We ate at La Buena Via three times and La Lunita twice. It was so nice being able to walk there in a few short minutes. Unfortunaltely, the week we were there the sargassum decided to invade the bay, which made the beach a bit unpleasant. The new pool at the condo truly made up for it. It's such a wonderful addition. Highly recommend this place. We plan to book it again and will aim for a time when sargassum is less likely.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would definitely book again when the next opportunity arrives. The place was spacious (although it was just the 2 of us), well equipped with basics, and a great quiet location, the plunge blue was lovely, and it’s in walking distance to local restaurants and café. We rented bikes for the week and cycled around wherever we wanted to go. It’s very safe & secure. The grounds staff, housekeeping, & the reception manager were also fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would definitely book again when the next opportunity arrives. This is a beautiful property both inside and out on a quiet street... perfect access to the surrounding areas to get the most out of the Cancun/Tulum area. It was so nice to have house cleaning daily considering the tropical environment, sand, and potential for critters. The property management was very responsive and attentive to making our stay comfortable and seamless. The ability to snorkel right outside our door was magical, where we saw stingrays, eels, lots of tropical fish, and a sea turtle.

Very spacious, very clean, well equipped, comfortable, right on the ocean, in safe and lovely neighborhood. We were grateful for the factually private beach patio. Daily service, including water re-supply, was lovely. When we had questions, agency responded. All agency employees we met were friendly and helpful. Honestly, we all were quite impressed.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Two recommendations would be it really is only suited to 2 couples. The third bedroom has to be passed through providing no privacy. Nice, clean unit. An outdoor shower would be a huge asset. Akumal Direct good company to rent through.

Unit is as presented in VRBO photos.
Located only a few feet from the ocean with your own elevated private deck. Fabulous sunrises!
Definitely freshly remodeled and finished very nice inside. Kitchen was well equipped. Barbecue unit needs replacing, doors fell off when opened. Other issue when it rains water leaks in from above at 1 of the large sliding doors. Appears upper unit is in need of a complete remodel as well and they are working on this.
Property is represented as a 3 bedroom 3 bath unit which is technically correct but beware the 3rd bedroom is really a walk thru TV room with bed(s). Its located on your way to the back private 2nd bedroom/bath. Only way you would know this is you looked carefully at the captions under the site photos on VRBO as its not mentioned in any text. Worked ok for our oldest son but not the best for a couple.
Great that daily maid and grounds service is provided. They did well.

we snorkeled and swam right in front of property, a little rocky on the feet but water nice.
Unit is very close to La Buena Vida, easy walk, a good place to eat your 1st night.
Its an easy walk into Akumal where we enjoyed eating at Lol-Ha(on the beach), Taverna Akumal, and the Turtle Bay Bakery.
We all enjoyed snorkeling at the Grand Cenote(turtles) and YAL-KU(easy walking distance with fish galore)
Other highlights...
the ruins in Tulum and the Aroma Cafe for a great breakfast.
Xplor Park in Play del Carmen was fun, an all inclusive park in a cave with zip lines, water slides, and more...food and beverages included.

I was reluctant to do this review, because I don’t want everybody to know about the gem on half Moon Bay. The place was phenomenal. The thought the owner gave to the kitchen and all of the kitchens amenities was incredible. Also, the owner gave a great deal of thought into having extra napkins, extra paper towels, extra toilet paper, extra garbage bags Things that I didn’t have to call and ask for because they were already there.
The interior of the place was beautiful.
Everything was functional from the fresh Culligan water to the Culligan water that made ice out of the fridge to the grill on the patio.
We had extra towels we had extra bedding(mind you we do not have house keeping come in— we like being self sufficient).
Overall beyond stellar we will be back definitely!!!! See you next year��!!

Overall, we had a great stay. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to a friend. There were some slight inconveniences, including not being ready for check in until almost 5pm. It was also difficult to understand that the check in office was up the road at la joya. A couple days the cleaners weren’t around until 4pm, a few dirty dishes found in the cupboards..Things happen, and this aside; the property was beautiful, tastefully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed.

This was the perfect beachfront rental for our family! The condo has been completely updated and it looks incredible! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the terrace with the sunrise each morning and an afternoon snorkel to the reef out front! We loved our time at Half Moon Bay Condo 1 and can't wait to return!
