Description

Casa Luna has a personality all its own. Set beside a small natural park and surrounded by tropical gardens, the home feels private and open while remaining close to the heart of Akumal. Its coral-inspired architecture rises toward one of its most memorable features, a rooftop observation tower with panoramic views over the Caribbean, jungle, and surrounding community.

Days can be as social or as relaxed as you like. Gather around the private pool, linger over dinner on the oceanview patio, find a hammock among the gardens, or head upstairs with a drink to watch the changing colors of the Caribbean from above.

The Home

The main house has three bedrooms, generous living and dining spaces, a fully equipped kitchen, and multiple terraces and balconies.

On the ground floor, one king suite with bunk beds has a private bathroom and easy access to the outdoor areas. A second ground-floor bedroom has two queen beds and its own bathroom.

Upstairs, the primary suite feels almost like a private apartment. It has a king bed, private bathroom, ocean views, a fully equipped kitchen, and a large terrace leading toward the rooftop observation area.

A separate garden casita above the enclosed garage gives two guests additional privacy. It includes a king bed, private bathroom, living and dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and a large balcony overlooking the gardens toward the Caribbean.

Air conditioning is provided in the bedrooms only. The main living and dining areas are not air-conditioned and use ceiling fans and natural ventilation.

A Smart TV and WiFi are provided.

Outdoor Living

Casa Luna offers outdoor spaces on several levels. Tropical gardens surround the private swimming pool, while hammocks and lounge areas provide quieter places to relax.

The large oceanview dining patio is made for long meals outside, with a built-in charcoal grill nearby for casual cookouts.

Above it all, the rooftop observation tower and terrace offer 360-degree views across the Caribbean, jungle, and Akumal. It is a wonderful place for morning coffee, sunset drinks, stargazing, or simply enjoying the view.

Casa Luna is oceanfront, but the shoreline directly in front of the property is not a traditional sandy swimming beach. A sandy beach is approximately a five-minute walk away.

Cook Service

Staff offers optional meal preparation during your stay:

  • Breakfast: MX$100 per person, per meal
  • Dinner: MX$140 per person, per meal

The cost of groceries is additional. The service includes grocery shopping, cooking, and cleanup afterward.

A menu is available for easy planning, or you are welcome to customize meals according to your group's preferences.

Payment for the service can be made in cash, in Mexican pesos or US dollars, upon completion of the service.

The Location

Casa Luna's location makes it easy to enjoy Akumal without spending every outing in the car. Restaurants, shops, dive services, Half Moon Bay, Akumal Bay, and Yal-Ku Lagoon are all nearby.

When you want to explore beyond Akumal, Tulum, cenotes, eco-parks, Maya ruins, and other Riviera Maya attractions are within easy driving distance.

Good to Know

  • Casa Luna is oceanfront, but there is no water access. A sandy beach is approximately a five-minute walk away.
  • Air conditioning is provided in the bedrooms only. The main living and dining areas are not air-conditioned.
  • Housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday.
  • The main house has three bedrooms, while the fourth bedroom is in a separate garden casita above the garage.
  • A Pack 'n Play crib and high chair are available upon request.
  • Bike and golf cart rentals, transportation, spa services, tours, and other activities can be arranged with our concierge team for an additional charge.
  • Off-street parking for two vehicles is available.

We come back again and again to Casa Luna with our three adult children plus their friends and partners. Casa Luna is perfect for us. Roomy, with privacy, beautiful ocean views, fabulous management and staff. Plus, the 2nd floor terrace is the perfect setting for karaoke! I mean, tiered seating with the ocean as a backdrop?! The gardens are so peaceful and the house is immaculate thanks to Humberto and Rosa who are both wonderful people.

The house is set up well with having everyone a bit spread out. This gives each are it's own privacy. We had 10 of us in there and it never felt crowded. Great location makes it easy to walk into Akumal beach, the restaurants, and of course my favorite beach bar La Buena Vida is very close. The pool was great and clean. Kitchen was well appointed. We had a private chef come over 2 different nights and they had everything they needed for some great meals. Only complaint was the amount of ants inside the house. Lots of little ants all over the kitchen and a bunch of bigger red ants in the bathroom attached to the bedroom off the kitchen. Bit of a pain but nothing that would ruin our stay, Beautiful views from the observation deck. I would stay here again.

I can’t say enough about how much our traveling party absolutely adored this house. The pictures - while numerous - can’t really tell the story of how this place comes together as a cohesive home. There is just so much to this property! There are four lovely bedrooms, three in the main house and one in a gorgeous guest house just adjacenct. Each has an en suite bathroom and shower so everyone can spread out. The upstairs bedroom even has its own kitchen and outdoor dining area! But there are also so many super comfy gathering places for everyone to enjoy, including a main living room, dining room and kitchen inside the main house, and plenty of options outside - including a big al fresco dining table off the living room and a series of Adirondack chairs and tables set all around the extensive property for hangout purposes. The sea views and sounds of crashing surf just added to the relaxation factor! Plus the pool of course and hammocks and a fantastic housekeeper and groundskeeper and what else am I missing? :) In short we loved this place and almost immediately began plotting our next visit. This home just exceeded every one of our expectations. Strongly, strongly recommend!

This was our 7th trip to Akumal and our 4th stay at Casa Luna. We don't stay anywhere else now because we love Casa Luna so much!

I previously reviewed the wonderful house and its beautiful gardens, huge terraces and stunning views, so this time I'll mention the fantastic people who make every stay so perfect.

This vacation rental agency is wonderful to work with. Payment is easy, they are extremely professional and responsive. We absolutely LOVE Ingrid, who manages the property, as well as her assistant/co-manager! They are both so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rosa and Humberto are fantastic, and they take excellent care of the house and gardens.

We feel very safe, comfortable and cared for at Casa Luna. And as a bonus, it's very private with no Sargasso/seaweed due to the rocky outcropping. There are no jet skis or boats on Half Moon Bay, so Casa Luna is very serene and a great place to relax. We had a masseuse come to the house for massages on the patio this time. Oh, and another bonus: The guest house is adorable and has both a garden and ocean view.

I think I mentioned previously that Casa Luna is in a central location for enjoying everything Akumal has to offer. But Akumal, itself, is also the perfect base for exploring the broader area. We could come back 30 times and still find new cenotes and beaches/beach clubs within 30 min of Akumal. There are also ruins, nature parks and animal sanctuaries. If you venture a little further, Valladolid is a colonial town about 1hr/20min away, with so much to do and see. It's a great day trip.

This is the second time we've stayed a Casa Luna. The views are simply unbeatable, the house is very clean, the gardens are beautifully kept, the beds, bedding and pillows are so comfortable, the kitchen and pantry have everything you need, and the location is great - close to La Buena Vida and a short walk (or golf-card ride) to the other restaurants, shops and Akumal Bay.
This house is great for couples or friends who want some separation. It's not great (in my opinion) for families with young kids or elderly members who have trouble with balance or steps. The 3rd bedroom (one of the masters) is completely separate from the rest of the house with no interior access. Also, the upper deck is VERY high (with absolutely amazing views of HMB and the ocean), but the sturdy, cement banisters are low with very wide openings. That said, we didn't have children with us on either trip, and love the house. It's hard to pick a terrace/view, there are so many to choose from!
The managers and staff are great. We especially love Humberto, the gardener. One more thing...this property has so many trees! I love the lush gardens and it's a great place to watch birds, agoutis and iguanas.
