Lovely Home on the Ocean

My wife and I spent two lovely weeks at Casa Del Mar. This was our second time staying at this property and it will not be the last. This home is not luxurious but it is lovely, clean, and comfortable. The staff are wonderful and friendly. They took excellent care of us. There are several things we particularly like about this home. First, it is within easy walking distance ( 1/2 mile or less) to many excellent restaurants. We particularly liked Jungle Cafe and Imelda’s for breakfast and La Lunita for dinner. Secondly the location of the pool on the west side of the house away from the ocean is perfect. You can enjoy the morning sun on the east side patio facing the ocean then follow the sun to the pool side later in the day. The pool itself is well maintained, deep and long enough to swim short laps. Third, the view of the ocean is the highlight of this home. It is spectacular.

Our first stay at Casa Del Mar was in 2014 with some friends. This time, it was us, our four young kids (infant to 5-year-old), and grandma - and there was still plenty of room for the whole gang. We’ve stayed all over Akumal the last ten years, including old and new condos along Half Moon Bay. None can quite provide the homey, beachy feeling like Casa Del Mar does. It’s close to both beaches, the west-facing pool is awesome, Mari and Roberto make you feel right at home... it’s just perfect. Most places in the area have east-facing pools that are shade-covered by late afternoon - but not here! The west-facing pool gets sun into the evening and without constant wind off the ocean. The “on-site” iguanas and hermit crabs were extra entertainment for the kids. With seven people, packing lightly would have been a struggle but Mari was able to do laundry several times during our stay, which was a lifesaver. We love CDM, and I’m sure we’ll be back. And, booking with Akumal Direct and Marcia is a breeze - this entire trip was organized in less than 48 hours, and everything was taken care of quickly and seamlessly.

We (two couples) stayed at Casa del Mar for ten days, and it was a last-minute booking. The communication was excellent, the directions were clear, and the check-in process was seamless. When we entered the villa, we were blown away by its cleanness, style, space and layout. Everything is working, and toilets flush with pressure; great hot showers, multiple bathrooms, AC units and fans in every room, SUPER QUIET and efficient. The beds are very comfortable. The VIEW is sunning. Great private pool. Lots of sunbeds around the villa with fresh beach towels provided daily. The area has several excellent restaurants serving fresh seafood and Mexican cuisine. A great beach is just 10 min walk. Also, as a bonus, daily cleaning and room service were provided - all the dishes were done for us. They also did our laundry for a small fee. Because of Casa del Mar amenities and the village around it, we actually changed our vacation plans, ate in local restaurants and enjoyed the local beach, cancelling many of our planned day trips to PDC. We will be coming back. This place is a rare gem!!

The house was exactly what we were looking for. In a gated neighborhood right along the water. Walking distance to good restaurants and the dive center. Everything in the house was well-maintained and clean. First rate management (we have stayed in properties managed by this group several times with great experiences every time). Nothing but good things to say about this house.

Casa del Mar sat right on the ironshore between Akumal Bay and Half Moon Bay. Easy location to walk to restaurants. Great ocean breeze and views! The pool was refreshing. A/C in the bedrooms was well appreciated. Kitchen was well stocked to cook meals. Staff were wonderful!

We had great family time in Akumal. Great views. Pool is very clean and well maintained and is great even it is not facing the ocean.
There is no beach in front the house, only rocks and you there is no way you can get into the water. The beach is 5 mins walk and didnt stay there as there were a lot of sargazo at that time.
Also there were not access to the rooftop and it needs to be improve to be call that way.
The house is comfortable and clean.
The town is 5 mins walk and has good restaurants for breakfast and dinner.

My wife and I decided to go on a 10-day diving trip in Akumal and couldn't have been more pleased with Casa Del Mar. The house is quite spacious and has amazing views wherever you go. The oceanfront terrace is perfect for enjoying the sunrise in privacy and the pool facing the jungle is great for happy hour. Plus, the rooftop offers a 360 panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea and Riviera Maya.

my family loved this place.pool in front is a big plus no wind.fantastic views from 2nd floor balcony. 2nd floor smaller br room has the best bathroom in the house,great view.nice layout tons of closet space. observatory on third floor best views in the beach out front but nice walking to explore the pools of water and interesting creatures in them. 3min walk to beach. maria maid and jose gardener will take care of all your needs. maria does laundry well. jose will wash your car daily.fun place we will be back.

This is our third time in Akumal. We stayed in Nicte Ha,the sister house next door, several years ago and couldn't wait to get back. Casa del Mar is a wonderful place. Just right for the 6 of us. Nicte Ha's rooms all face the ocean, but Casa del Mar more than took care of us. Having the pool on the street side has a bonus - no winds! We all had a terrofic time and will surely return.

We had a fabulous family vacation at Casa Del Mar in Akumal. the Villa is beautiful and well maintained. it is very convenient for a family with kids - we were 4 adults and 2 kids and had the perfect amount of space. the view from the back porch is stunning, and the pool is a huge advantage for entertaining active young children. the only draw back is that the beach is about 5 minutes walk away and not directly on the property. The house seats on a cliff, right on the ocean, but you can't really get into the water right there.
The staff at Casa del Mar are friendly, professional and helpful. Jose, the gardener picked for us fresh young coconuts almost every day, and Mari cooked mouth watering delicious meals. We had a perfect vacation and would love to come back again and again.

We had a fabulous family vacation at Casa Del Mar in Akumal. the Villa is beautiful and well maintained. it is very convenient for a family with kids - we were 4 adults and 2 kids and had the perfect amount of space. the view from the back porch is stunning, and the pool is a huge advantage for entertaining active young children. the only draw back is that the beach is about 5 minutes walk away and not directly on the property. The house seats on a cliff, right on the ocean, but you can't really get into the water right there.<br/>The staff at Casa del Mar are friendly, professional and helpful. Jose, the gardener picked for us fresh young coconuts almost every day, and Mari cooked mouth watering delicious meals. We had a perfect vacation and would love to come back again and again.

We have stayed at Casa Del Mar three times for spring break and plan to keep coming forever. It is heavenly. Whenever I feel stressed out, I close my eyes and imagine lying in bed at Casa Del Mar listening to the waves rolling in and watching the moon shine reflect on the water.

Such a wonderful place to visit. The town is filled with charm, beauty and wonderful people. The home was perfect for a small group and the kids adored the pool. The staff treated us like royalty, it was everything we were promised!

The location was great - easy walk or drive to both Half Moon Bay and the main beach. Mari, the housekeeper and Jose, the gardner were both amazing and great! Jose is a super hard worker and always there to help. Mari is a great cook too! Great house
