Description

A Sun-Kissed Beach House on Tankah Bay – Tulum

The great advantage of spending your vacation at Riviera Maya and in a beach house like Casa Cavu. You can let down your hair, take your shoes off and just walk around barefoot. Because Casa Cavu has been designed around two main concepts – relaxation and Caribbean natural beauty, two must have ingredients for your vacation.

An elegant swimming pool, an expansive terrace complete with cozy hammocks swinging in the breeze, a shady beach pavilion perfect for dining ‘al fresco’ and a wide stretch of white powder beach – allow you to experience the ultimate pleasures of spending your time outdoors.

Inside, Casa Cavu reflects tropical Caribbean vibes with its beautiful local furniture, colorful accessories and unique architectural details, like a brick arch that adds a flare to the charming breakfast area.

The first level of this beautiful beachfront house features an open floor plan incorporates a stylish living area, a pleasant dining area spacious enough to accommodate 8 people, a fully-equipped kitchen and two out of the three bedrooms of the house.

One of the bedrooms features a king size bed and boasts mesmerizing views of Tankah Bay. While the other guest room is furnished with a queen bed and a single bed and has separate access to the patio. These two bedrooms share a spacious bathroom.

The Master suite, located on the upper floor overlooks the sparkling waters of the Caribbean and pampers its guests with a comfortable king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and a private ocean view terrace ideal for watching spectacular sunrises over a freshly-brewed cup of coffee.

Step Upstairs to the Rooftop Terrace with Views of Tankah Bay

For more dramatic views of the Tankah Bay, there is the rooftop observatory that crowns this charming beach house. If you want to take amazing pictures of the Caribbean or share a photo of family members relaxing by the pool or taking kayaks for a ride, this is the place to be!

Not only does Tankah Bay have good snorkeling and excellent kayaking within the shelter of the reef, but it also has several great restaurants and a dive shop all within walking distance of Casa Cavu.  The city of Tulum and Akumal are only a 15-minute drive away with even more sightseeing, restaurants, and of course the famous Tulum ruins.

One thing is clear – every new day at Casa Cavu will seem like an exciting adventure, full of joy, amazing fun memories and bonding moments with your loved ones! So why wait?

Add Casa Cavu to your inquiry list and embrace a feeling of walking barefoot on the soft, warm sand, soaking in the sunshine and breathing in fresh sea air.

If you're looking for a quieter vacation experience this is perfect. Very nice Bay with great snorkeling right in front of the house. The water access is Rocky but if you have your fins on it's not a problem. Very few people on the beach so it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. There are approximately five local restaurants in nearby boutique hotels you can walk to and a cenote. The home was very clean and The master bed was comfortable. Unfortunately the couches really are not. But you don't spend much time in the house anyway. My only complaint would be the lack of hot water. In order to take a shower you need to turn the hot water only on and it's lukewarm at best. Overall a great vacation property with excellent on-site managers. Felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. Also it's an easy 10-minute drive into Tulum if you're looking to visit a busier area.

The house is nice, fully equipped, and was just right for our group of 7. We made use of the kayaks almost daily. The on-site staff are delightful and welcoming. We did not see or meet the management staff, but they were responsive before our arrival. As mentioned by earlier reviews, the directions to the house need updating. Unfortunately, the wind was absolutely howling the entire time and the sargasso arrived just prior to our stay. To be clear, neither are the fault of the property or staff, but I would strongly recommend booking your stay for another time (we were there in late March/early April.

We loved our stay. It was absolutely beautiful property. Looks just like the pictures but it's even better being there. The front of property when you arrive is beautiful with flowers and well maintained and then of course the beach was great. Weatther was great. Wifi worked our entire stay. Really great proximity to Tulum (we visited the ruins and downtown Tulum) and Akumel if you decide to see anything there. We spent most of our time on the property swimming with out kids (10, 8, 5, 1) and loved it. We snorkeled out in the ocean and swam a lot. There is a ton of seaweed Isidro works on moving out each day but it's certainly not the type of beach that you sit where the waves wash to shore due to all the seweed but 10 fee out into the shallow water is totally clear. We also visited a great cenote 15 minutes away that was great. Isirdo made us dinner 3 nights and I highly recommend. He made great food and definitely worth it relative to eating out. Housekeeping from Rocio was great. Both of them were fantastic.Only regrets were not renting a car from airport to have all week and not buying fresh mango in town on street every day. It was not convenient relying on cabs for a family so we got a rental after our first day to feel flexible to do what we want.Cannot say enough how peaceful and beautiful the property was. Great and roomy and safe for our family of 6.

We visited Casa Cavu 11 years ago. It was fun to come back! The house is still a little jewel.
The care takers are wonderful! Akumal Direct was very helpful with answers to our questions before our arrival.
Casa Cenote Restaurant is just a short walk down the beach from Casa Cavu, and well worth it!
We hope to return again, some day!

The house, the beach, the location are wonderful. The house is virtually spotless. The beach is scenic, pretty private, and the water is beautiful for swimming in or gazing upon. There’s a pool, multiple decks, and an open-plan kitchen / dining / living. Who could ask for more?

Casa Cavu is a beautiful house in Tanka 3. We had a great week there. The caretakers, Isidro and Roccio have done a lovely job maintaining the house. We ate at all of the restaurants on the beach and enjoyed each one. Casa Cenote is just short walk down the beach and a great place for tacos and margaritas. Our first day there we had some really nice snorkeling straight off our beach. It got a little breezy for the rest of our stay in March- I guess this is typical, but we had a great time exploring the Tulum ruins, and nearby towns. Our best meal was, by far, the lobster feast that Isidro cooked for us. Don't miss the opportunity to have him cook up something special for you! The only downside to our stay was the wifi- there was weak to no signal. It was fine, but on the few occasions we needed to do some work in the "real world" it was impossible. While that was a mixed blessing, we also couldnt stream any music, movies, etc. The upside is we got to watch the waves and listen to the breeze in the palm trees. Great place, and we'd stay there again.

We stayed here as a "vacation in place" during COVID. The house is beautiful and the pool is great! The views are lovely from every angle. Make sure you bring or buy beach shoes. We also brought our own snorkel gear, which we believe is a must. There are reviews that accurately state that the beach is really rocky (it is on a reef after all), but not ideal for smaller ones. I will state that the internet in the area is very uncertain, not because of the property, but because of the providers. You must also have a car to stay here because the area is without many amenities. If you are looking to disconnect and appreciate a beach getaway, this is a beautiful home.

If you like/need your creature comforts and technology, you may find this location lacking and frustrating. We had work and school, so it was not ideal for our family. We understand that Tankah Bay is not good for internet and there is a lot of seaweed that comes into the bay.

Everyone was kind and considerate. We are the type of family that like places to congregate, appreciate the ability to getaway to our space and watch a program, and comfy beds. This is not that kind of home. This is a beautiful and simple home that has few amenities beyond the beauty of location.

Title says it all. We spent 7 nights here with our 4 kids. The location is away from the chaos of Tulum, but only about a 10 min drive. The caretakers were so wonderful (scoop: Isidro is an AMAZING chef - cooked up our fresh fish like a pro), and kept the house and grounds immaculate. The snorkeling out front is good, but depends on the currents; the cenote drains into the bay and the water clarity is hit and miss due to the fresh/saltwater mixing. Nights were just amazing to look at the stars on the top roof. A/C in each room, keep it as warm or cool as you'd like. Some days the breeze was strong off the water, other days calm. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Nights were just amazing to look at the stars on the top roof. A/C in each room, keep it as warm or cool as you'd like. Some days the breeze was strong off the water, other days calm. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The house is really nice and we truly enjoyed the beautiful views and peaceful location. However, the house does need certain updates that would accommodate guests better. A larger tv is needed, especially during this time where people want to stay in because of Covid. Also we experienced a rather larger tropical storm and the power was on and off for two days which was inconvenient. Maybe having a small generator would be handy. The caretaker Isidro and his wife are sweethearts, and would do anything to make you feel at home. I highly recommend his flan, ceviche and Mexican stew. Overall it was a great place to stay!

So many great things to say about this property. We stayed for a week. 2 adults, 2 kids. We did not rent a car and it worked out great. We hired a car service to get us to and from the airport (through the property concierge) and it was perfect. We had a private chef come for our first day and that was awesome. A lot of leftovers. The other days Isidro prepared a meal otherwise we ate out. The house is perfect. Isidro does a nice job of maintaining the beach and Rocio cleaning the house. The house was more than enough for our single family but we enjoyed the spaciousness and large pool. We brought Air mattresses with us from home which was great. Bring water shoes too. For the water kayaking and the cenotes.Excursions: Dos Ojos cenote, the Tulum ruins, Casa Cenote, Akumal monkey sanctuary. All of it was awesome. Had taxis wait for us and do a round trip which made it easier. For food, we ate at tankah inn, Casa Cenote, the Italian place, chamicos, taco honorio, Celti - all were greatKids had a great time. We felt very safe and taken care of. We will defnitely be back!!

We had an amazing stay at Casa Cavu! The location, right on a beautiful beach and only 10 minutes from downtown Tulum, was perfect. The house had great spaces, large rooms, excellent kitchen. The pool area was our favorite place to hang, cool off, and view the ocean through the palm trees. The caretakers Isidro and Rocio were friendly, inviting, and cooked us a wonderful meal. This is a place we will definitely come back. Thanks for the wonderful time - Larry, Lynn, Sarah and Elisabeth Chun

We stayed for 5 nights with my sister, wife and 2 kids. We had perfect weather other than a stray T storm and Isidro made most of our BFs and dinners. He's a good chef- we stayed at a different VRBO last year and had a very good chef so our expectations were high - he was very personable and the presentation was great.) Rocio as a cleaning lady was a godsend. Overall, enjoy the white sand, gorgeous bay, perfect pool, and tons of cenotes for great morning trips. Even a day trip to the ruins was nice.

I came to Casa Cavu with four friends to enjoy a week together. The place is beautiful - a fantastic beach, a delightful pool and near several cenotes. The caretakers are lovely and quite accommodating. The house was impeccably clean. If you stay here you should budget for taxis to and from Tulum, but this was worth it for the quality of the space we had. Highly recommended!

Casa Cavu was wonderful!! The house was perfect and the staff were exceptional!! We were staying in our own little corner of paradise. We were centrally located to all that we wanted to do, and when we wanted to spend the day at the house, there was a gorgeous beach, pristine pool, and hammocks to enjoy all day. We could even walk along the street to our home or the beach in front of the home, and visit a couple of restaurants, a snack store, and even made some friends. We would highly recommend this location!!

This was a wonderful home in the Tankah Bay area of the Mayan Riveria. The home was wonderful - not too hot in June and air-conditioned bedrooms. The caretakers (Isidro and Rocio) were warm and friendly and wonderful. The location is fantastic, unless you like lots of high-rise hotels and resort action. It's relatively quiet and peaceful and very tranquil. A wonderful place to visit. We will return!

This property was a dream come true for our family who was grieving the loss of two family members within the past few months. Everything was perfect -- an oasis away from the busy Christmas holiday season around us. Only suggestion would be that non-perishibles (spices, condiments, canned goods, etc.) be left for the next guests to use -- we had to purchase everything we needed and, thus, had to leave behind a fair amount of food products (following the "green" reuse philosophy). Another suggestion would be that the property manager, Rhett, check in with guests more than his one-time arrival greeting. He was our only English speaking contact and when attempting to reach him by phone only got a fax line. Otherwise, this vacation could not have been any better!! Thank you Marcia at Akumal Direct!!!

The staff was great and Isidro and Rocio were wonderful, esp. their cooking! We experienced a lot of blowing rain and water came through the windows/doors. Our expensive leather briefcase had water damage. This was the only negative. Otherwise, stay was fabulous and we loved the location. We would consider the house again. Having the pool was very nice!

We stayed in Casa Cavu in May 2008. There were 4 adults, 2 4-year olds, and 2-infants. It was so wonderful and had everything we needed. We really felt no need to even leave the property. The caretakers were amazing. You must let Isidoro cook for you. Do it the first night and you will be hooked. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to a friend. You never know what you are actually going to get but Casa Cavu really looked just like the beautiful photos online.
