Hacienda Chichen Hotel might be the most historically-remarkable accommodation in the entire Yucatan. Never mind that it is nestled at the foot of the world-famous Chichen Itza’s Mayan ruins. This splendid hotel has a rich history of its own and it is just as remarkable!
Since the day it was constructed in 1523 (using original stones from the nearby Mayan pyramids and temples), it has served the Spanish Crown, been converted to a sisal plantation, housed the vice-consul of United States, and served as headquarters for the Carnegie Institute.
Hacienda Chichen Hotel’s rich past can still be seen in a small colonial chapel and beautiful stone arches that add mystery and romance to this already beautiful place.
There are only 11 guest cottages that host 18 lovely Guest Rooms, 4 Honeymooner’s Rooms and 7 Master Suites. All rooms reflect old-world charm, combined with top-notch amenities. With the Hacienda’s regal atmosphere, decked out with hand-made furniture, deluxe bathtubs, large walk-in closets and colonial tile floors it’s easy to believe yourself as descending from nobility.
Each of the hotel rooms features a splendid garden view and comes with a romantic porch or a patio and a traditional Mayan hammock.
Manicured garden walkways lead from the cottages to the main hacienda, restaurant, bar and a grand swimming pool. Hacienda Chichen restaurant is well known for its inventive and delicious Mayan Fusion cuisine and romantic atmosphere.
If you want to pamper yourself with a truly royal experience, order a massage treatment from the Yaxkin Spa& Mayan Retreat. There is nothing like a Su’uk feet treatment after an intense and adventure-filled day at the nearby ruins. A Must-try. Seriously.

Hacienda Chichen was a great splurge. The food was excellent and worth the price. Staff and grounds are great and Chichen Itza is a wonder that has to be seen. Staying here and being able to get in early is better than taking a bus from another location. Come here for the nature and to get away. Not many outlets in room, no TV, perfect to unplug and enjoy the area. Piste has good local food. Trip to Villadolid for the afternoon was also a good spot to experience local culture and food.

We stayed 4 nights at the Hacienda Chichen Resort during February 2012. We are so glad that we decided to stay 4 nights, as suggested by a friend that had visited the Hacienda once before, because we were able to really unwind. We fell in love with the gardens and all of the beautiful birds. We went on the birding tour, we visited the resident naturalist at his Maya Hut, and toured the Hacienda's organic garden. We obviously visited the archaeological park of Chichen Itza in the morning, before the tour buses from Cancun arrived. We stayed in the Tatiana suite and the bed was wonderful; I believe it had a mattress topper that was heavenly!

We were met with a special welcome and tour of the estate by the wonderful concierge. We were 3 couples traveling together and the accommodations were perfect for us. We adored the Maya Fusion cuisine and the open air dining. It was wonderful be a five minute walk from Chichen Itza, we got there right when it opened, beat the crowds and the heat. Then we returned for a refreshing swim and a lazy afternoon by the pool. The only bad thing was that we didn't have time to visit the spa.

Loved staying here. The property is well-kept, beautiful and clean. Would definitely go back.
