If you are travelling with a large family or a group of friends Villa Luminosa is your perfect tropical getaway. Yes, it boasts a private location on the edge of Tankah Bay. Yes, it has a great pool rising above the shores of the turquoise Caribbean waters. And yes, it features amazing views of the Caribbean from each of the 4 bedrooms of the house. But this is not what makes Villa Luminosa so special.
Its secret lies in the original and exceptionally practical layout that will make you wonder why no one else has ever thought of designing a beachfront property like this before.
A large breezeway takes up the central part of the main floor, opening the house to the lovely pool area and refreshing breezes from Tankah Bay. The breezeway is equipped with everything you may need for a cook-in (as opposed to a cook-out) including a high-quality gas grill, lots of counter space and a large dining table that seats 8 people. Imagine what it would be like to eat your sizzling, juicy steak or charcoaled vegetables here and savor the view of palm trees and the sparkling waters of the oceanfront pool.
On each side of the breezeway is located a beautiful bedroom. The two bedrooms are almost identical, each giving you a feel of a private apartment. Each comes with a mini kitchenette, an en-suite bathroom, and one king-size and one single bed. Each has private access to the pool terrace and the beach. It is very convenient, because if you are an early riser, you can take your morning dip in the pool or prepare a freshly brewed cup of coffee without having to tip-toe around the house worrying about waking other guests up.
The main living area, a dining room, a fully-equipped kitchen and two more bedrooms are located upstairs, turning this floor into another family-oriented space, where everyone can get together and watch a good movie, share a home-made meal or chat with friends online.
A large second-floor terrace is another feature of the Villa Luminosa that is impossible not to fall in love with. A shaded palapa roof, cozy outdoor furniture and mesmerizing views of Tankah Bay. There is no better place to relax with a good book or dine “al fresco”.
The two upper level bedrooms located on each side of the living room, also open up to the ocean terrace, pampering each guest with magnificent views of the palm trees and the Caribbean. One bedroom comes with a king-size bed while the other has two queens. Both bedrooms feature a spacious en-suite bathroom.
A private rooftop observation deck is the crown of Villa Luminosa. Equipped with a wet bar, a built-in table with chairs under a shade arbor, and a large couch, it is definitely THE place to visit at sunset. Just make sure that you arm yourself with a digital camera and a frozen Margarita – both are equally important when enjoying the tropical sunset.
Other fun and exciting activities not to miss during your stay include, relaxing by the pool, kayaking and snorkeling in the calm waters of Tankah Bay, swimming in the sacred, freshwater Manatee cenote nearby or visit Tulum (10 minutes south) and Akumal (15 minutes north) for more sightseeing, dining, diving, and shopping options.

Perfect family stay - there can be a room for each kid! Great house pool, close to the reef and very clean. Friendly house staff. Rhett the onsight property manager is terrific and very helpful. Beautiful family style home and very livable. You do miss a bit of the north breeze given location on Tankha Bay - but thats a small matter given the good a.c. Best value on Tankha Bay!

We played a lot of golf (great courses in the area) and didn't spend a ton of time at the house. Overall it was very clean, practical and convenient. Great roof top. Best and most unique benefit is Francisco's cooking. He's a trained chef who ran a restaurant 12 years. His meals are incredible!
