Miles away from the traffic, city noise and constant ringing of the telephone is a little Caribbean paradise with a beautiful name – Soliman Bay.
Amongst its white sand beaches, lush tropical vegetation and aquamarine sea stands the tall Villa Iguana – an exquisite dream house that oozes unparalleled comfort and relaxation.
Cooling, silky-smooth limestone floors. A sophisticated, airy and relaxing ambiance. Extensive glass sliding doors that open up to soft sea breezes and unmatched views of Soliman Bay. This is the picture you will see upon entering Villa Iguana.
A large living space encompasses a modern gourmet kitchen, a nice dining area and a living room that is spacious enough for family get-togethers, yet cozy enough for relaxing evenings in front of the TV.
When the glass sliding doors are opened, the living space flows onto the shaded seaside patio that hosts another spacious outdoor dining area.
And while the mouth-watering aromas of freshly cooked meals fill the house, you can grab a chilled ‘cerveza’, take your shoes off, lean back in one of the chaise lounges and let your vacation begin!
In fact, Villa Iguana offers so many relaxing activities, that you will probably have a hard time deciding which one to choose – whether to put on snorkeling gear and explore the reef, grab your kids and go kayaking, or relax with a good book in one of the hammocks under the beach palapa.
One thing is clear – the fresh sea air and plenty of fun day time activities will guarantee that you will sleep like a baby at night.

We love Villa Iguana so much and Soliman Bay has some of the best beaches in the area. While we have stayed at other villas in Akumal, this was our 2nd stay at Villa Iguana and we are already planning our next vacation there. The staff are wonderful, including Jose who cooked for us for the week. I also love having the option of dining at Chamico's at one end of the bay or at the Sahara Cafe at the other end (easy walking distance to both). During our 1st stay back in 2007, this was not an option.
The grounds at the villa are beautiful--right out of a postcard. (This in NOT an exageration)
We can't wait to return!!! Thank you for the fabulous memories.

We stayed at Villa Iguana many years ago with two children. The home and surroundings are beautiful. We enjoyed snorkeling in the bay and swimming in the pool with the home. We used the chef that came with the property and the meals were fantastic. He even cooked our bait (octopus) and it was fabulous. Fresh chips and salsa every night. We've never forgotten our vacation there. Looking at the pictures makes me want to go back.

My husband and I had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful home after our wedding. The house was perfect. Very comfortable and the staff was amazing. The snorkeling was some of the best I have experienced along the coast. I found the place to be tranquil and beautiful and still keep a photo on my desk of us in the pool to remind me of the great time we had while staying at Villa Iguana.

Myner and Claudia are wonderful. We arrived a little late and she had dinner waiting for us. This is a fantastic house for beach living. We ate most of our meals on the patio. There are so many relaxing places to sit and enjoy beach life. The snorkeling in the bay is superb. We saw sting ray, lobster, large schools of large fish, conch, and many colorful fish. We loved being able to use the kayaks. The living room could use some a/c for days when there isn't a breeze. It is the jungle so there are little ants inside the house. There are bigger ants/termites in the 3rd floor bedroom although they don't seem to bite. The whole house is quite comfortable. We plan on returning. The photos here have not been updated so they don't show the whole glory of this rental.

This is an amazing home on an amazing bay. The bay is like your own personal aquarium filled with fish and rays. The home is quite comfortable and the staff is amazing. It is a jungle so there are bugs. There isn't air conditioning in the living room so it can get a little warm. The outside living is phenomenal. You can't beat the palapas and hammocks. We hope to return.

The kitchen was subpar: broken coffee pot and blender which they replaced 1/2 way through. No sharp kitchen knives or sharpener so the groundskeeper sharpened them for us from his house. Most of the knobs of the cabinets came off when you pulled them. No instructions were given to us about the fridge. If it got too full it leaked water all over the floor. Half way through we got a large cooler to use for beer, etc. The thing that I believe so missing was any updated materials on the area and the bay itself. I believe you could provide a great service by educating visitors on how to see the reef without hurting it. (We found ropes tied around endangered elkhorn coral.) We saw someone take an anchor out to the reef. I think information on the beautiful life under the water would enhance every visitor's trip. The groundskeepers were very good and it was kept very clean. Notes about the scarcity of water(it being trucked in) would be appropriate. Also we separated our garbage but watched it all go in one garbage truck at the same time. What happened to the recycling mentioned in the book?

Everything was as promised. Staff were incredibly helpful... in retrespect we should have had their cooking services for the entire week rather than just a couple of evenings. Beware; one week is not long enough!

Incredible time with 13 people (Good Luck number for the Mayans). With the superb help and beautiful smiles of Claudia & Mynour - the house keepers, and dinner makers- our time there was perfect. Pool was fabulous, beds comfortable, beach divine. We felt safe and well cared for always. Kitchen is a little lacking, Fridge sucks and stove needed some assistance, but that was it. when and if there was an issue, it was taken care of immediately! A spiritual journey for all!
