The sparkly Caribbean waters never failed to attract millions of visitors every year. However, nowadays more and more people prefer tranquility and relaxation to the upbeat vibe that many Mexican cities are known for.
If you are one of the people, who appreciates luxury accommodations by the quieter, more private spots of the Mayan Riviera, then you will be interested to learn more about the Casa Salvaje.
This oceanfront villa, located right in Aventuras Akumal literally stands out from the rest of the competition. This pure white property, placed amidst the ever-blue sky and clear azure waters of the Caribbean looks like a little slice of Eden.
The property of Casa Salvaje includes a two-story villa and three additional guesthouse ‘casitas’ that provide accommodations for larger groups of guests.
The main house of Casa Salvaje consists of a roomy kitchen, airy living room, elegant dining room for 10 people and four ample bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and a glass door either leading to a private terrace upstairs or the beach side pool deck on the first floor.
It is worth mentioning that three out of the four bedrooms face the Caribbean, while one bedroom faces the lush green garden. If you happen to get the garden view, don’t worry! You will be the one admiring the mesmerizing tropical sunsets and taking pictures of the sun disappearing into the Yucatan Jungle.
Three additional casitas provide plenty of space for a maximum of 17 guests, making Casa Salvaje an ideal choice for family celebrations and large groups of friends traveling together.
The stylish beachfront pool and the white pool deck with the Caribbean as a back splash have been designed as an ideal place for swimming and relaxation. If you are looking forward to soaking up the sun, then head towards the sandy stretch in front of the house and pick one of the lounges that offer the best view of Akumal bay.
Or you can learn why Riviera Maya is known around the world for its scuba diving and snorkeling spots. In fact, you don’t have to go far to explore the majestic beauty of the coral reef and exotic flora and fauna. Some of the best snorkeling stops are right outside your door.
Spending your vacation at the graceful white Casa Salvaje means leaving work stress, household duties, frustrating traffic jams behind and embracing peace, tranquility and the care-free lifestyle of a Mayan paradise.
After all, life is short. So why postpone living it to the fullest? Add this property to your inquiry list, and let us know if you want just the main villa or all of the bedrooms that host up to 17 people.

This large property was perfect for our families vacation! Lots of room, individual space as well as group space. The pool by the ocean was a hit for all! We were close enough to historical sites as well as parks to make it an easy trip - or we just liked staying right there and enjoying the views, sounds and facilities. We took turns cooking - which was fun, as well. A great value and perfect location!

House was great - kitchen and common areas inside smaller than I expected - but we did most of our hanging out by the pool and on the beach. Kitchen had no storage and was tricky to cook for 12 in the space provided.
We had a small problem with AC in one bedroom but was more than taken care of by the house manager - brand new unit and dinner for the house on Loco Gringo - more than took care of the problem.
Awesome location - close enough to do anything you want - but secluded enough to feel private. Even flanked by two resorts - our space was never infringed on.
Betty, Sergio and Augustino were awesome!! I highly reccomend.

This house is in the perfect location, close to Playa Del Carmen/ferry to Cozumel, Turtle Bay in Akumal, Tulum, and a bunch of cenotes.

I have stayed at Casa Salvaje twice, so there must be something good about Salvaje for me to be a repeat customer. The beach is amazing; very large, white sand, minimal rocks on water entrance. The house is priced well and should perhaps be considered a good value for the money. With that being said, it would be nice if the kitchen were updated and central A/C installed as it gets stuffy in the evenings and the window units struggle to cool the rooms. There is usually a slight pest problem, but I learned from my first trip to buy some raid ant and roach killer and problem resolved. The gas grill that comes with the house is very sub-par, so we actually bought a charcoal grill and left it at the house.
All in all, you get what you pay for. There are nicer houses available, but they come with higher price tags. The deciding factor for me is that you will likely spend 90% of your time on the beach, and you will be hard pressed to beat that beach.

We traveled with a group of friends, Casa Salvaje was the perfect fit. We used the extra casitas and everyone had their own personal space. The backyard is stunning, and the view is ridiculous. The beach directly behind the house when getting in the water, it is rocky. If you walk down to the left though, that is where you can get in the water. The house made our trip an unforgetable one, I will definitely come back and stay here again.

We had a large group of 12 that stayed at Casa Salvaje. Everyone was comfortable and the house had everything that we needed. We loved the pool and it was used by everyone. The patio area leading to the beach was great for all our entertainment festivities. We were close to the volleyball net and the kids and some adults in our group made use of that multiple times. The only thing that I did not like about the house was the bedrooms located beachside were used as access to the patio and beach. So traffic went through some of the guests rooms. Although I did make use of the outside staircase most of the time and it didn't do me any harm. If I had another large group looking to travel back to Akumal, I would consider renting Casa Salvaje again.

Great beach with excellent snorkeling right from the house. There is a huge coral reef with lots of wildlife. Turtles hatched on the beach right in front of the house, it was great. We love this vacation. The house sleeps tons of people, is very comfortable and makes for a relaxing getaway.

This was our 2nd visit to Casa Salvaje. We love this property, however relied on internet service to keep in touch with family. DID NOT WORK THE ENTIRE TIME we were there. This should not be listed as a service. CD player was old and didn't work that well, would have been nice to have some pool music. Loved the staff, wish our spanish was better

We have been to Casa Salvaje several times and have loved it everytime. the internet worked great for us. WE love the beach seeing the turtles hatch on the beach and mostly the big turtles coming up to lay the eggs at night.
The house was clean and the staff was great.
The staff was great and we enjoyed fresh coconut right off the trees.
mostly just enjoyed playing on the beach and snorkling just in front of the house. The best part was it was free... The kids did some wave surfing, volleyball, kiteflying and snorkling right in front of the house.

When planning our family reunion vacation (15 people coming from California and two parts of Mexico) , I researched locations for weeks...resorts, villas, etc. I was nervous that Casa Salvaje would
not live up to the internet description... I couldn't be more pleased!!!
The house is the PERFECT beach house! Each room has a large comfortable bed with a private bath (no waiting for showers), the pool and beach are right outside the back door, yet the landscaping adds character and separation (compared to other villas on the same beach which were stark and square). The entrance is a winding private garden that sets you off from the road, and offers another gathering area away from the ocean. The kids spent all day and night in the pool or in the ocean. There is a reef with a TON of fish, squid and turtles straight out the back door...no need to pay someone to take you out. It's all right there (tip-the beach bar several houses down will rent you snokel gear). The most amazing thing were the giant turtles! They come to shore about 10pm and the naturalists are out to educate you. We even had a nest of babies hatch right in our backyard and the kids got to help guide them to the water (without touching!)
Outings might include a trip to Tulum, only 15 minutes south, or one of the many cenote tours. There are boats to take you out all along the coast...they'll find you. The little pueblito of Akumal Beach is two exits north and has a great beach cantina, little shops and some restaurants.
The kitchen is well equipped. There are no markets close by- do your shopping at the large market in Puerto Aventuras about 15 minutes north. Buy your tortillas fresh from a tortillerilla in one of the little towns. Oh, and plan ahead because you can't buy alcohol after 5pm on Sundays.
The staff is amazing! Betty is the maid and is so nice and tolerant of all the family mayhem (the other review about cleanliness - it's a beach house so there will always be sand!) She did a great job of picking up after us. Sergio the gardener cleaned the pool and beach area every day, not an easy task. And there is a night watchman who keeps an eye out from dusk to dawn (and alerts if there is turtle action).
The internet connection can be maddening...sometimes it works and sometimes not. And the AC is wonderful in every bedroom but there is only a fan in the kitchen and its super hot.
In all, I can't wait to go back! The week goes by fast so you can't do everything in one trip.

We loved this house! There were 5 of us, 4 adults and one 3-year-old. The pool and its proximity to the beach can't be beat. Hmmm...pool, beach, or both! The interior of the house is lovely, with nice Mexican art everywhere and photos of others who have enjoyed the house before. The staff is so nice and friendly, although our Spanish is mediocre at best so there was a lot of hand signs and pointing for communication! Our son loved the pool and the volleyball net next door. The beach out front cannot be beat...very swimmable, only a few rocks that are easily spotted. Great snorkeling only a few yards out. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, very well equipped. Just watch out for the falling coconuts out by the pool, yikes!! Also reassuring that there is overnight security so we felt very safe. Also loved the garden entrance...beautiful plants and foliage line the pathway making for a very serene environment. Loved it...already planning another trip!

If you are looking for a beautiful modern rental home near Aukmal, centrally located to many adventures in Mexico, with an incredible beach, trust me when I say that your search is over. Having just spent the last 2 weeks at this beautiful house, I can tell you I am missing it already. The house is beautiful, the rooms are all as advertised in the pictures and the beach was soooo much better than the half moon bay beach which we visited. The snorkeling right in front of the house was as good or better than snorkeling that one would typically pay for. In all honesty there is not 1 negative thing I can say about the property or our experience here.

We just returned from our stay at Casa Salvaje, in Akumal. What a lovely, relaxing experience. It was perfect. One always worries when trying a new place. Will there be shade from the sun, will there be enough chairs, will the ocean be clean and calm, will the kitchen have enough stuff, will there be a phone, will there be a tv, will the beds be comfortable, will I have an ocean view, will the staff be nice. Well I had nothing to worry about. Everything was great. So I would suggest, pack your bag and do not hesitate to rent Casa Salvaje. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation on a beautiful section of beach with great Snorkeling and fishing try Casa Salvaje. I had planned on taking tons of photos to share, but spent 95% of my time sitting on the beach reading and enjoying the ocean.

Wonderful beach house for families or larger groups. The friendly staff were very helpful and it was great to see the turtles nesting right out in front. This is an excellent base camp for Riviera Maya activities.

We recently stayed in Casa Salvaje with friends and kids. The house is perfect for a large group. We utilized one of the casitas and it gave us plenty of room to spread out. The staff at Casa Salvaje is amazing! The kids really enjoyed the fresh coconuts chopped down by Aurelio, and Betty couldn't have been sweeter and more patient with all of the kids! We were fortunate to see 3-4 turtles amazing sight! We love this place and will return again.

We had 11 family members stay here and had a wonderful time. The house, location, support staff were all great. Look forward to coming back. For a group this size, this was the best and most affordable option we could find and were not disappointed.

We have stayed in Casa Salvaje 2 other times. We love that the villa is beachfront with the pool on the beach. I was a little disappointed in the kitchen remodel. When I tried to rent this villa last year it was unavailable due to kitchen remodel. I hardly recognized the remodel as none of the appliances were updated.Casa Salvaje could definitely use a spruce up. Chairs in dining area could use a recover as they looked very dirty. This being said Bettie and staff did a wonderful job taking care of us.

The location of the villa is accommodating to surrounding ruins & various excursions. The one downfall was the abundance of ants therefore everything had to be put in ziplock bags and some of the a/c didn't work that good (I'd recommend replacing some units). The beach was enjoyable and snorkeling was great! The staff was wonderful and very accommadating and informative of local hotspots. Overall my family enjoyed the week at the villa, soaked up the sun, relaxed, and watched the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place for families or large groups. Thank you to the owners for opening up their house to vacationers who desire for a little bit of paradise. My family loves the town of Akumal since it's away from Cancun and more tanquil. Akumal also offers great snorkeling and the chance to see sea turtles in their natural habitat. Planning my next trip back already!

Casa Salvaje is a beautiful property on a perfect beach. There wasn't one complaint during our ten day stay. The staff was fantastic. The house and casitas were more than enough for our large group. Mostly enjoyed the pool and beach. The kids only got out of the pool to eat. The only thing missing was a few more walking distance restaurants. I will stay here again.

This place is always great! The location is beautiful and very convenient to shopping, excursions and something for everyone. The people, house and property and top notch.

We went for a week in June with a total of 6 adults and everyone agreed that this was the best vacation we''ve had. We chose this house because we knew our main interest was to spend most of our time on the beach relaxing. There were more than 6 lounge chairs, and enough shade all day for everyone on the beach. The sand going into the ocean was just a bit rocky (larger rocks and coral), so water shoes were nice, but definitely not necessary. We enjoyed having the pool as well, and often got in at night. The house was just right, and would have easily accommodated another couple. One evening we had food prepared from the menu available. The price was very reasonable, food was great and we had leftovers for another meal the next day. I would definitely recommend! We cooked simple meals every day and found the kitchen to be well stocked. There wasn't anything we looked for and could not find. One day we went to Tulum to see the ruins and had lunch in town afterwards, and another day we went north to Akumal Bay for lunch and to wander the few shops. Akumal Bay is about a 45 minute walk north and one day we walked there and took a cab back which was a nice way to take a long walk up the beach. We were very impressed with the extra amenities. A housekeeper visited every day and swept and mopped the sand from the floors, made the beds, and insisted on us leaving the dishes for her to take care of. One thing we didn't know would be provided was a security guard to monitor the house at night. The house is towards the end of a dirt road and while we didn't ever feel unsafe it was nice to know there was someone outside looking out for us. We've already considered going back to this same house to do exactly the same thing - enjoy the beautiful beach and relax! We really do feel that we found a place that we will definitely be returning to.
