My family, including two twenty-something children, stayed for a week in October. The staff was incredibly helpful, but also stayed to themselves so we had a very private on-the-beach resort.
Tulum is nearby and has all the creature comforts you may need to enjoy your stay. Go to Super San Francisco market for nearly everything.
The staff cooked dinner for us one night and it was fabulous. They even did the dishes.

We had a wonderful stay at Casu Cavu in November, 2011. The house was wonderful with a nice, big kitchen. This was our first stay on Tankah Bay and would return in a New York Minute. The snorkeling was fantastic with the cenote a quick, two minute walk to the beach. It was so peaceful and relaxing that we could easily retire to this area. The staff were nice but really didn't do much. We were never approached regarding preparing meals so we cooked ourselves. We actually had to borrow the grill from the caretakers. I would highly recommend this home and hopefully will return.

Most beautiful beach view I've ever had. The beauty was breathtaking. House was attractive, clean, well appointed. Chef and housekeeping was awesome. Beds comfy, plenty of towels, groceries nearby, info in the house on surrounding attractions... Have traveled all over the world, and this was the most relaxing beautiful vacation we've had. We also had amazing nature/animals experiences, e.g., a turtle nest hatched on our beach and we saw 100 baby turtles emerge from our sand and run to the sea (as they instinctively do.) Nearby nature parks are interesting for adults and kids (priced at U.S. levels.) Great mix of relax at the house or head out to a nature park for adventure.

Was wonderful. The kids loved the pool. Must have Escidro cook for you. Not a week goes in the two years since we visited Casa Cavu that my kids don't mention it. The Cenotes Restaurant down the beach was really good. Get the catch of the day. Blue Something - no, no.

Traveled to casa cavu last march with my family. Two teenage kids(18+16) and two adults. Best vacation thus far. The house and location was amazing. Easy drive to Tulum, a litttle town where there is shopping. Go snorkeling right out front and also in the cenote down the road from the house. Great food! Great staff. I want to go back right now :(

Casa Cavu, on Tankah Bay, was the best of both worlds in terms of convenience and "getting away from it all". Easy drive into Tulum for occasional dinner out. The house is beautiful, with a very well-equipped kitchen (juicer, blender, etc). Great layout. The bedrooms are roomy with good closet space and the bathrooms clean with good showers. One disappointing thing was the decor and the linens. Bare-bones furniture in the bedrooms (tiny nightstand, single lamp, etc) and mostly blank white walls - and the bed coverings are old and a bit dingy and should be replaced. It did lack ambience in that respect, felt a bit "cold".
There's Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV which we never turned on - we prefer technology-free vacations. They had several DVD's of movies, and some books - none of which we actually used. One thing that would have been great to have - and which many of our previous LocoGringo rentals have had - is games (cards, Yahtzee, etc), which are always fun on family vacations.
The best things by far about Casa Cavu are the location (on a good beach, if rough on the feet) and the caretakers. Isidro, the caretaker, is an amazing cook and our best dinners of the trip were the two he made for us. His wife is lovely and very dedicated to keeping the house clean. They are just lovely people, period.

Great layout for families with walkout access to the pool and beach. Very spacious house. The kitchen was very well equipped with a lot of tupperware which was so helful! While the closets in the rooms are huge, there are no dressers and limited shelves for clothes. We stayed on the ground floor and were bummed that due to recommended security at night, we had to close all windows and doors and could not enjoy the fresh breeze. Truly, my comments are the same as everyone else's - incredibly clean house, amazing meals by Isidro, great location on Tankah Bay and to Tulum. This was a great house! Note that the beach is rocky and not great for swimming, but there are plenty of others nearby that the kids loved!

Excellent property and totally as advertised. Found it very windy when we were there in late January. easy driving to tulum, akumel etc. pool hit the spot.
It's my favorite house on the bay to go for rest and relaxation. Very quiet and peaceful with the best swimming, snorkling, kayaking, beach combing. The beach side pool is irreplaceable. The living room furniture is not very comfortable and if there was a dresser with drawers in each room for clothes that would be great.

This vacation was heavenly. This was great to be able to relax right on the beach and the pool. Close proximity to other little towns. It was a wonderful vacation and a wonderful home.

The home was beautiful and the views and location were even better. We had the most relaxing vacation we have had in a very long time. The house was equipped with everything we needed and more. We did find that there was a huge language barrier between the homes caretakers and us. We should have gotten more meals then we did, it just became to hard to get through it. If your looking for rest and relaxation without a lot of noise and confusion then this is the place.

Our 3rd stay here and we love it! Could use an additional soft chair in living area--we tend to sit in a line on the couch. A fresh coat of interior paint would be nice. We'll be back.

As you walk through the front door there is a clear view of the bright blue water! You know you have finally arrived and are ready for relaxation. Kitchen has everything you need. Pool is clean, beds comfortable, and the house is clean. This is one of our favorite places in the world to visit.

The house was awesome and the caretakers are the best! We had them cook several meals for us which were so good! Hiked the ruins at Coba, snorkeled Gran Cenote and spent some time on El Paraiso beach...best sand ever! We would stay here again for sure and if you want something different than a big resort I would give this a try.
One week February 2015, family with 3kids (11/13/14). The house is spacious, clean, clear and real ocean front. All rooms have access and view to the beach. Isidro, the chef and Rosario the house keeper are not only professional but friendly. Ideal place for quiet rest and clear blue sea.
10 min drive From Tulum life.
Fine WiFi and mobile networks.
Easy access on sand in the water (feb 2015)

The house was perfectly furnished, confortable, really clean. Rosario and Isidro are really nice persons. The ocean, the beach and the pool are perfect for kids (11/12 and 14)and adults . The place is quiet and the bay is beautiful.

The Villa was a dream from the first sight. We arrived straight from a snowy New England landscape and fell immediately under the Casa Cavu''s spell. Not one complaint about the house. The surroundings provided a peaceful, private atmosphere, very different from the overcrowded Tulum''s beach. A short drive there in the evening for entertainment and dining was all that we needed. The rest of the time was spend on the beach in front of the Casa reading and swimming. The beach was kept very clean, but to get into the water you really needed water shoes because of the very rough bottom you encountered well into the ocean. This was the only crease on the overwhelmingly good experience during the whole vacation.

Just returned from a 5-night stay at this spacious villa with amazing views from throughout! It was perfect for our group of two adults and four teenagers. The on site caretakers were friendly and kept everything clean daily. The pool was clean & refreshing, and we enjoyed the kayaks. We walked down the beach to in front of the resort at the beginning of the road and swam out for great snorkeling. We got groceries in Tulum and made our own breakfasts & lunch snacks then usually headed into Tulum for fabulous dinners. Loved the villa & area and definitely hope to return!

Casa Cavu is a true tropical oasis where a breeze always blows. Our family of five stayed for a week and loved every minute. It is located on a very private stretch of beach with great snorkeling. Icidro and Rocio keep it immaculate and are excellent cooks. We highly recommend the Filete Tampiquena and Pollo Pibil. There are several quality restaurants nearby. Our favorite was Oscar and Lalo. Rhett from Loco ****** welcomed us in person our first morning and was very helpful and available when we needed him. We highly recommend Casa Cavu and would definitely return.
our 6th stay at Casa Cavu. Love it.
Stunning views EVERYWHERE in this home. So close to the water, you lay in bed and it feels like you can reach out and touch it. Amazing staff, the dinners they cooked were so good and the flan to die for. House was spotless daily. We took our 18 year old daughter and her best friend for graduation. We felt beyond safe all the time in this quiet little area. Rhett the manager showed up the morning after we were there and was absolutely engaging and helpful at every turn. A little issue with a couple of times with air conditioning not working, but he was right on it. We plan on coming back, one week was not enough. :)Couple of travel notes. The water is rocky but beautiful. Not conducive to true swimming or snorkeling, but that didn't matter one bit. Bring water shoes.Pool was AMAZING and refreshing. Sand was smooth and wonderful Kayaks were great and fun to use right in front of house. My husband did some fly fishing from them. WiFi worked but was hinky here and there. No big deal, but streaming movies won't happen. They supplied water purification. Every aspect of this home felt very authentic to the culture. We loved that.
Love this place. Could use an easy chair in the seating area for reading. Built in furniture is not very comfortable although they have made it as comfortable as possible by adding some cushions. Thanks for a great vaca!
Casa Cavu was very nice. The staff was outstanding.

Our 4th stay here--Have always felt safe but robbed on New Year's Eve. Came in through an unlocked above ground kitchen window (such a wide counter space between sink and window you need a chair to climb onto counter to reach the window so had left it unlocked as only gone 2 hrs). Laptops, iPads, cell phones, one credit card stolen. Everything else was in the safe. Reported to local private security company who guards the road (no one on duty spoke English) but it is a public road with a public beach and public restaurants so they have no ability to seach trunks, backpacks, etc. They do not patrol the beach side. Also reported to Municipal Police who charged me $150 pesos (about 11 USD) to get a 2 page copy of the report. Still enjoyed our visit. Live and learn. Isidro and Rocio wonderful. Never did see the management representative who usually visits in first 24 hours. Could use a fresh coat of paint inside and some basic cleaning supplies in the bathrooms. Reservation process with Loco ****** was wonderful as always.
