Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum have drawn artists of all kinds from throughout Mexico and around the world. The Riviera Maya is an exciting showcase for traditional indigenous art, Mexican folk art and international rising artists from across the globe. Here are some of the galleries and events we have visited and really enjoyed recently. These are just a sample of the amazing art and artists that contribute to our vibrant communities. Check back for updates!

Mexicarte

MexicArte is located in Akumal, just through the main arches. This is a new location as of February 2020 which has really expanded the fine and folk art available at this well curated boutique.

Mexiarte offers a wide variety of truly Mexican arts and crafts made by individual artisans from throughout Mexico. Offerings include tiny, finely made model animals to large, unique original paintings. Each piece of original art is carefully chosen by the owner. Everything is hand made and painted and can be chosen in-store and delivered by mail.

Sfer Ik, Tulum

More than artful and creative tree house, Sfer Ik is a creative inspriration that has been constructured using natural materials and organic shapes. Acting as an occassional art gallery, this is an engaging structure which richly reflects the natural beauty around it. Hours vary, exhibitions are occasional so we recommend you double check on Facebook before visiting. Sfer Ik is located down the Tulum Beach Road, but well worth the journey for a glimpse.
