Cultural activities are always our favorite, especially if they include all family members. The Frida Kahlo Museum has been one of the main attractions in Riviera Maya for a while now. Their weekly schedule highlights family-friendly activities and inexpensive events. Its location makes it easy to find and is surrounded by the most popular restaurants, bars, and shops. In the following months, they promise to have really interesting events organized by Cineclub, which is another amazing Cultural organization in Playa del Carmen. But the Open Microphone activity held next week keeps us interested since it is related to our favorite festivity: Dia de Los Muertos.

Frida Kahlo Museum will have an Open mic event for you to tell your funniest or scariest story. All attendees are more than welcome to wear costumes whether they present their story or not. The organizers also encourage them to bring a musical instrument to make their presentation more dramatic or fun. All collected funds of this event will go towards the creation of a new library for the Mayan community San Silverio. The event is limited to only 15 story presentations of no longer than 6 minutes. You can also participate with a 3-minute song, poem, rap, or “calaverita” (Dia de Los Muertos rhyme). Registration is needed in advance. The entrance for visitors, in general, would be 50 pesos per person. A donation is required for people doing the presentations, additionally to the entrance fee. This is an amazing opportunity to participate in a cultural event, celebrating the traditional Dia de los Muertos.
