Hidden Worlds Adventure Park

A Favorite Family Cenote Park in the Riviera Maya

We love this adventure and eco-park! Hidden Worlds has combined cenotes with jungle adventures in their eco park with the cool addition of the Avatar Rollercoaster Zipline and Skycycle. The effort  Hidden Worlds has taken to preserve the jungle for your adventure is impressive. The natural flora, fauna, and trees were maintained when their park was created. Close attention is paid to the conservation of the cenote, the natural highlight to the Hidden Worlds Eco-park. The cenotes visited on this tour, Takbeha and Takbelum, were featured in the Imax film “Journey into Amazing Caves” and the box office hit “The Cave”. NatGeo continues to work with local conservationists and divers to discover more secrets about the cenotes.  (Bit of movie trivia:  Loco Gringo’s co-founder Kay Walten was the stunt double in the IMAX movie)

This truly is a family eco-park that is designed to include fun for children and adults

The featured Avatar Zipline and Skycyle is the most fun we have had for a while, so check out the details! Avatar  is the World’s 1st Rollercoaster Zip Line in the Riviera Maya. The Avatar gives you the heart-pumping ups and downs of a roller-coaster with the acceleration thrill of a zip line that winds through the wild Jungle of Riviera Maya. Opened in Hidden Worlds Cenote Park in April 2010, adrenaline junkies agree, the Avatar is 10 times more fun than other ziplines. The Skycylce was a super cool way to explore more of the jungle and get a close look at the cenotes.

What we loved about the Avatar

When we went to check out this new zipline, we were not sure what to expect. After brief safety instructions, you strap on your helmet, secure your harness and go up the stairway of a small wooden tower. With your heart thumping, you walk to the start of the track, which resembles a monorail suspended by heavy steel cables, The last thought that rushes through your mind is, “Why in the world am I doing this?” A second later you find yourself rushing straight downhill, gathering speed… With butterflies in your stomach and adrenaline pumping through your veins, the Avatar zip line ride takes you up and down, though loops, and into a dark tunnel right before landing with a splash into the cooling waters of a cenote. What we loved is the combination of a jungle overview, cenote fun and a ride that gives you a thrill!

Skycycle Adventure that takes you through the Mayan jungle

After trying the Avatar, we wanted to try the Skycycle. This experience was different from our previous zip, zip and away, but again, loved it! It’s a combination of a zip line experience and a bike ride, which runs along a robust cable. You take a seat, lean back and then pedal your way through the Yucatan jungle. You are in control of your speed, can stop and start as you please, and take an intimate look at the jungle.

After you are finished with these great adventures, you can continue with some snorkeling in Dos Ojos just to round off the day. We dove right in and enjoyed the fresh, cool water after those two great adventures.

How to find and book your day trip adventure at Hidden Worlds Cenote Park
