Want to spend time together with your friends and family members, without renouncing your privacy? Villa Gemelas maybe just the place for you!
Nestled on the fine coral sand of Tankah Tres Villa Gemellas is actually 2 houses in one, incorporating two side-by-side mirror units. Such amazing layout allows a lot of flexibility for both small and large groups. If you are travelling with your close family (up to 6 people) you can rent just one unit and enjoy all the “luxuries” of a private beachfront house for a fraction of the price. While bigger groups or two families travelling together (up to 12 guests) will appreciate their privacy and personal space!
There will be no need to make compromises, because both of the houses are almost identical. Each one is designed with 3 cozy bedrooms, a fully-equipped modern kitchen, an open- floor living and dining area and a roof top terrace. The large sliding doors in the living room open Villa Gemelas to the refreshing ocean breezes and amazing views of Tankah Bay.
The beach-side patio overflows onto a white-sand ‘back yard’. Slender palm trees, two white chairs under a beach palapa, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean – a pure tropical paradise setting worthy of the famous Corona commercials. Just open a chilled ‘cerveza’, take your shoes off and embrace the ultimate relaxation in your private Caribbean paradise!
For a good night sleep or reinvigorating Siesta naps, Villas Gemelas offers 3 cozy bedrooms in each of the houses. Two of the bedrooms are Master bedrooms, each featuring a king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and million-dollar views of Tankah Bay.
The beach floor Master bedroom has private access to the beach patio, while the upper-level Master suite with its own furnished terrace. This is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee and greet the sun rising above the clear, sparkling waters of the Caribbean. The third bedroom of the house is great for teenagers and friends. It comes with two twin beds, a private bathroom and views of the lush tropical garden.
As to outdoor activities, swimming, snorkeling and kayaking would be your first bet. The outer reef at Tankah Bay minimizes the surf, so the waters are very calm and clear.
Tankah Bay is also a great place to learn scuba diving and see the beautiful Caribbean reef. Try Lucky Fish Diving at the Tankah Inn for good daily reef diving and Scuba instructions.
After your diving sessions, stop for a few drinks, light snacks or a savory dinner at one of the two charming restaurants – Casa Cenote and Manatee Cenote – located just a few minutes down the street from the Villas Gemelas.
10 minutes south from Tankah Tres you will find the Pueblo of Tulum and 20 minute drive north will take you to the center of Akumal. Both cities offer plenty of other local restaurants, charming little shops, market place and more great beaches.
So if you are looking for the right dose of relaxation and fun, Tankah Tres is a great place to be. While Villas Gemelas is your safest bet in terms of Price, Quality and Location. This is a very nice house for the price. It is a clean and well kept property with all of the amenities of home. Do not expect luxury, as this is just your basic home. Our favorite thing to do while there was take the kayaks out and tie off at the "double buoy" in front of the house for snorkeling. The snorkeling closer in was fair at best, but out closer to the reef it was great!!! The shoreline was a little rough for our kids to swim, but they had a great time building sandcastles and hunting crabs on the beach. Overall this was a great stay and would recommend to other budget travelers.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Villas Gemelas. We loved the Tankah Bay area because it's very low-key and relaxing. There is great snorkeling in the bay and it's also perfect for kayaking. The property is right on the beach, so you can walk out of the house and be in the water in seconds. The beach is pretty rocky though, so you do need water shoes in order to comfortably walk on the beach. The caretakers were very friendly and helpful, and kept the property very clean. The property does not have many high-end amenities, so if you are looking for luxury accommodations, this is not the property for you. But it has all the basic necessities and it's a great deal for the Tankah Bay area.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Villa Gemelas. The amenities are very basic, but that is reflected in the price of the house and it had everything we needed. The Tankah Bay area is very laid back, which is just what we were looking for and the snorkeling in the area right outside the house is excellent. The caretakers were great and really helpful whenever we needed anything. Overall, we had a wonderful time and will be definitely be going back to Tankah Bay.

We stayed 9 nights at Villa Gemelas. It is a magical place. Cornelio and Fanny were so welcoming and their friendly hospitality really made us feel at home. They take very good care of the property and were always helpful with any questions we had. The beach is spectacularly beautiful with terrific snorkeling and we were blessed to witness newly hatched baby sea turtles make their way down the beach and into the ocean! The location is close enough to easily drive to ruins of Tulum and Coba and explore many other beautiful beaches and numerous parks. We loved Villa Gemelas!

hair and sand were on sheets upon arrival. we removed them and they were put back on the bed, dirty. clean sheets were finally put on Thursday, left on Saturday. Towels were picked up off the floor and rehung on towel bar. Only one toilet out of three would flush solids. Broken plunger was available. hot water was very limited. Would have been very happy here if we had clean laundry. Really made me ill to sleep on sheets that had not been changed.

We had rented the home next door a few years ago and saw Villa Gamelas. It looked nice and we really like the area. It's very save an secluded. The cenote down the road is beautiful and it's great to have a couple restaurants within walking distance. The house is nice. Could use an bit of an update and the beds are hard as rocks. The kitchen needs to be stocked better for cooking. Some casual dinner ware and a new set of pots and pans would be helpful. It was good to have a caretaker on premise but he was not very attentive. We ran out of water both for showers and drinking. We had to ask several times to have the garbage taken out. The place was only straightened up once and never really cleaned during out 7 day stay. We liked the place but the the service needs improvement.

We traveled as a group of 6 (3 couples) and were looking for a house near Tulum on the beach that was also in our price range the week after New Year 's (obviously not an easy thing to do at that time of year!). We luckily stumbled onto Villas Gemelas. It was no frills, but the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-enough equipped, and we had our own slice of a beautiful beach. You definitely need water shoes for the beach as it 's very rocky, but beautiful, and a car is also necessary for this trip to get into town. We explored other beaches and cenotes, but also relaxed at the house several days. We also hired a chef to provide a cooking class at the house and also went grocery shopping and cooked at home several nights. I would highly recommend this property if you don 't need anything fancy, but want a simple and well-maintained space. We also loved the caretakers of the house (and their pet dog!) who were kind and welcoming throughout.
