If you support the concept of eco-tourism, staying in the eco-chic villa with a beautiful name – Casa Sophia – will definitely go at top of your list. What makes it different from other accommodations is its location.
Casa Sophia is a beach house that sits within the 1% of privately owned territory of Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve – UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 300 bird species.
While thousands of tourists try to book one day-trips to this eco-wonderland, there are only few lucky ones, who actually spend their vacation in one of the most exclusive and protected areas of Riviera Maya. Casa Sophia gives you this rare opportunity!
Besides being close to wildlife, bird-watching spots and 23 archeological sites (some dating back to 2,300 years ago), Casa Sophia holds a myriad of surprises. For one, the world’s second longest barrier reef is mere swimming distance away from the beach house.
Another is Casa Sophia’s spaciousness and modern feel. This unique beach house incorporates four beautiful bedrooms (plus an apartment studio) and is large enough to accommodate up to 10 people.
The open floor plan of Casa Sophia offers splendid views of the outdoor pool, tropical garden and the beach. While a modern, fully-equipped kitchen, adjacent to an elegant dining and living areas, makes it easy for you to cook your meals and chat with the rest of the group.
Sustainability, eco-chic and magnificent ocean views are the Hallmark of this celestial beach house. The same holds true for all the bedrooms of Casa Sophia.
The master bedroom boasts a gorgeous coral-colored en-suite bathroom with a large soaking tub. The second bedroom suite, located on the upper floor is an ideal choice for romantic couples, as it is the only room that features both views of the lagoon and the ocean. This bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and has private access to the terrace.
The third and fourth bedrooms are perfect for a family with children, as they share a full bathroom and a spacious walk-in closet. Bedroom #3 has a king-size bed, while Bedroom #4 features 2 double beds.
A separate studio accommodation for additional guests is connected to the Casa Sophia and is furnished with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. It will delight nature lovers, as the windows face the Sian Ka’an’s tropical jungle.
Make the maximum out of your stay at Casa Sophia, by taking advantage of the numerous outdoor areas of this beach house. Enjoy a morning swim in the pool, take a nap in one of the hammocks, share an evening cocktail under the beach palapa, and of course, take plenty of pictures of exotic birds, colourful fish, wildlife and the lagoon!
It is undeniable that whether you are an advocate of eco-friendly living or you are still considering it as an option; you will love the eco-chic of Casa Sophia and natural beauty of Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.
Just make sure that you secure your stay in advance, because there are only a handful of beachfront vacation properties that are located in Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve and that are large enough to welcome a big group and families.
5 bedrooms. Maximum 10 people.

We were there for about a week and it was better than expected. The house was clean and well appointed, and the Cesiak staff was very helpful. I believe that in the description they mention that the Cesiak restaurant is nearby, but I had no idea that we would be there multiple times a day for its great food and service.
We had a group of 10 that included 4 children and everyone had enough space. With multiple rooftop terraces, the beach right there (soft nice sand) and the pool off the main room, I really can't imagine what else someone might want. Except for maybe more people around. If so, go somewhere else because this is truly off the grid. The electricity is supplied by solar and wind and there is plenty of wildlife around.
It was mighty windy when we first arrived so the waves were pretty heavy, but by later in the week it was tranquil enough to do some snorkeling...I definitely recommend Sophia and hope to make it back!

We loved it, and would go back in a heartbeat. Great house, views, pool, beach and access to the headquarters and activities there, including the restaurant. We didn't take the cook, so we cooked outselves part of the time. This went well, although the kitchen could use some equipment upgrades. All in all, a wonderful place.

Casa Sophia is a beatiful home with a pool and close proximity to the beach. We had 6 kids with us, all under 4 years old and they had a great time at the pool and the beach. It's secluded so you have complete privacy. There is no microwave, but otherwise the kitchen is fully equipped for whatever you want to cook or eat.
At night we fell asleep with the doors open, listening to the sounds of the waves crashing and feeling the ocean breeze. It was wonderful. They have security at the house all day and night, plus and housekeeper who did our laundry and does dishes.
It is a short drive to get to other restaurants and shops. It's about a 25 minute drive to get to the main highway in Tulum.
We had a wonderful time and would go back again!

We had a great family vacation. The staff at Casa Sophia was wonderful. We enjoyed our breakfasts at CESiak. The staff there was very accommodating especially with the younger children. The children loved the pool.
I was surprised that no one mentioned the road to the house. It was extremely bumpy so we did have to carefully plan our outings. The grocery store near by was great and the restaurants in Talum Beach were very good and accommodating. Overall, we had a wonderful first visit to Mexico.

We just spent a week at Casa Sophia with friends and had an AMAZING time! The house is gorgeous, the staff, Gabby and Manuel are so wonderful and helpful. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook gourmet meals. The pool and beach in front of the house were spectacular. The road to the house was bumpy, but so what? It was TOTALLY worth it!

Everything was five stars. I hope this review doesn''t make it harder to rent.

Casa Sophia is a lovely home and the staff is excellent!! I will likely not stay there again though because the road to reach the house is TERRIBLE and the beach is so narrow from erosion that you can't place a beach chair in the sand. Chairs have to set up in the vegetation on the dune - which the staff does...but they aren't very comfy that way. Don't even think about driving to this house without a jeep or similar type SUV. I knew the road was going to be rough, but if had no idea how bad it would actually be. The pool had a leak and the sat tv was not working when we arrived. The manager and his crew worked on the pool for two days and got it fixed. The tv was fixed by about day 4. Neither was a huge deal, but one key consideration for renting the house was the tv because hubby wants to keep up with news. This is the second time I've rented from Loco Gringo

We had a lovely time at Casa Sophia. It is a little out the way and sometimes taxis drivers are reluctant to go down the rather bumpy road, but Tulum is so busy at NYE it is nice to be away from it all. Be warned getting a table at restaurants in Tulum for a big group or without waiting from 5pm is very tough. THe beach is very pretty and a short walk away the cesiak hotel is good for tours and simple food and fresh margaritas. The upstairs bedroom doesnt have AC but all others do. the roof deck has beautiful views but could benefit from a light at night and or some more tables/chairs or sun loungers in the day. Gabby and Manuel come every day to help clean and maintain the place and they are great!!

Casa Sophia exceeded our expectations. Although it is off the beaten path, that for us was one of it's high points. The property is beautiful and well equipped. Not only did we have our own private sandy beach, we also had a pool that was appropriate for our little ones as well as the adults. The staff was terrific.
