If you have always dreamed about staying in a castle, Casa Magna may be just the place you want to spend your next vacation.
Created in the Moorish style mostly found in Andalusia and Southern Italy, this modern castle-like villa is nestled into the magnificent rocky coastline of Riviera Maya, overlooking the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean. It is hard to believe that this private, walled and secure villa is just a 5-minute walk away from the incredible beaches, famous dive shops and cozy little restaurants of Half Moon Bay and Akumal Bay.
This 4 bedroom and 3 ½ bathroom villa has over 6,000 square feet.
The pointed arches over the columns found throughout the house, the large stained glass windows, the cathedral ceiling dome of the foyer, the elegant white furniture and unique architectural solutions all give Casa Magna its regal ambiance and uncluttered, open feel.
The main level of the villa consists of a magnificent foyer, large sunken living room with a full entertainment system and a serpentine custom-made couch that runs round the whole perimeter of the room, a gourmet kitchen with a lovely breakfast bar and a formal dining room that is spacious enough to accommodate 8 to 10 people. Both the living and dining room have private access to the ocean courtyard and exterior lounge area.
The main floor of Casa Magna also hosts a private office with wireless internet connection, a queen-size bed and a half bathroom in case you have to spend a few hours working or talking to your team back home.
But since a vacation should be about relaxation, rest and a break from work, let’s talk more about this…
The second level of the villa is the tranquil oasis of the house, as it boasts 3 elegant and airy bedrooms with king-size beds, private bathrooms, ocean-view balconies and a smaller auxiliary bedroom with 2 twin beds (perfect for kids). There is also another living room with its own balcony that faces the immaculate garden and the pool. This is a great spot to enjoy colorful tropical sunsets or to read a good book.
Every true castle has to have a few ‘luxuries’ to offer its guests, Casa Magna is not an exception.
The outside area of this regal villa opens up to a Grand Pool and ample lounge space, where you can sunbathe, sip your freshly made cocktail, chat with your friend or just rest after a fun-filled morning at the beach. It is also a wonderful spot to do a cook-out party, especially since you get 2 grills (one gas and one charcoal) at your service.
And if you feel like treating yourself like royalty, there are additional services available to you upon request; from a professional cook service to grocery shopping from nanny services to relaxing massage sessions.

The location of Casa Magna is great - Akumal and Half Moon Bay are little communities that have a little bit of everything. The rocky beach in front of Casa Magna is not for swimming and even walking can be treacherous. However, the beaches of Akumal Bay and Half Moon Bay are superb for swimming and snorkeling and just a short walk down the road. Akumal is within close proximity to most other attractions which made traveling around by car easy and fast. The villa itself is very spacious (your voices echo in the rooms) but some of it is looking dated and getting worn out. The saltiness of the sea air has taken its toll on the bathroom faucets, mirrors and windows. Since this villa was built and furnished before huge flat screen t.v.'s, the television sets are too small for the huge rooms they are in. The pool and decks are really nice and have abundant furniture. However, the BBQ was not very good and a chair in the front of the property broke when sat on. Be sure to ask the caretaker how to work the air conditioning - we never did figure out how to work it. However, all in all, it was a lovely vacation and Casa Magna is beautiful.
