Fortunately for those of us, who are looking for peace, quiet and natural beauty there are still beautiful bays of the Mexican Caribbean that have not become victims of their own success.
Tankah Bay is one such place. Here you can still marvel at the abundant growth of coral reefs that haven’t endure any damage, and dive near the freshwater cenotes that the Mayan Riviera is well-known for. No wonder this place has been a best-kept secret and the home to some of the Caribbean’s most private villas, including Casa Caribeña.
Forget about tall stone gates that separate you from the traveling crowds and overly noisy neighbors! While you are staying at Casa Caribeña there will not be any buildings and tourist groups distracting you from enjoying the stunning views of the lush tropical greenery of the Mexican Riviera Jungle and the pristine blue Caribbean waters.
This amazing 6 – bedroom villa has been designed for families’ and friends’ vacations, as it can comfortably host from 6 to 14 people.
For example, the main living room area, located on the first level of Casa Caribeña serves as a great place for everyone to hangout. With satellite TV, wireless internet connection and pre-paid phones, your entertainment is well-taken care of, as you don’t have to worry about missing your favorite US shows or not being able to chat with your friends back home.
There is also a second living room and a gaming room situated on the upper level, which is very convenient if you are travelling with kids. While they are watching their movies or playing upstairs, dads can claim the couch downstairs, ‘arm’ themselves with ice-cold Coronas and watch sports.
You will surely appreciate the Tiki wet bar located just off the living room that has been created for great conversations over a glass of wine or a Frozen Margarita.
Another family bonding place is without doubt the main dining room area, situated on the ocean front patio. In the evening it is lovely to dine here, while admiring the beauty of Tankah bay and enjoying the refreshing breeze from the ocean.
And the best part is that you don’t even have to worry about cooking (unless you want to), because it is taken care of by the resident house cook at no additional cost. Guests can use both the kitchen and also a mini-bar located on the second floor.
The bedrooms of the house are also worth mentioning, as almost all rooms feature an en-suite bathroom and a private terrace. So, depending on your choice, you will have the possibility of waking up with the ocean as a background or admire the breathtaking sunsets over the Yucatan Jungle.
The surrounding outdoor features of Casa Caribeña are equally astounding. The ground level pool and elevated rooftop pool are perfect for an early morning swim or relaxing on the lounge chairs and catching up on your sunbathing time. A walk towards the ocean will lead you to a thatch-covered patio – ideal for a sweet afternoon siesta.
And if you take the flight of stairs to the roof top dipping pool that seats 12 people with 360 degree views of the Caribbean and full roof top living room that seats 14 people, with bar and bathroom.
Casa Caribeña offers you a myriad of secluded luxuries, like a healing massage from a Mayan Shaman and private access to snorkeling spots in front of your house, which are not easy to find.
So make a decision to turn this vacation into the most relaxing, rejuvenating and a reinvigorating experience EVER by spending a week or two at Casa Caribeña.

We loved our stay at Casa Caribena and will come back! The house was perfect, with everything that you could even think you would need and more. Lily and her staff took care of everything and the house was spotless with the beach and pools being cleaned every day. One of my favorite things to do was to have my coffee while watching Diego meticulously remove every bit of seaweed that was on the beach each day. He kept things as spotless outside as the girls did inside. We used the kayaks and the snorkeling in front of the house was the best we saw. Turtles came up to lay their eggs and we would have loved to see the nest hatch. Maybe we?ll come back during that time next year!
Now about the food.. well what can I say?.. just as so many reviews said before this one?.. it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!! The Chiles Rellenos were our favorite with the Pollo Pibil coming up a close second. All of the food was fantastic and being pampered with having the meals prepared for us and served beachfront was the best.
In a nutshell, there is nothing that could have made our vacation better at Casa Caribena. I guess that is why they have so many reviews like this one! Take your next vacation here, you won't be disappointed. You may not want to leave and you surely will have the best vacation ever.

We just returned from a week on the beach at Casa Caribena. We had an absolutely great vacation. The home and grounds were immaculate--better than advertised. The location was absolutely beautiful, and close to Tulum and many other activities. The snorkeling in the bay was awesome and was easy for the kids to navigate. We also enjoyed use of the kayaks and the swimming pools. We loved the roof-top patio--especially early in the morning before our kids woke up! One of the best benefits of this home is Lily and her staff. Lily's cooking was truly superb. We enjoyed homemade salsa and guacamole every night--it was so good. Don't miss her Chiles Rellenos and Huevos Rancheros. The staff takes such great pride in the care of this home and it really shows. We hope to make it back there again someday.

Casa Caribena is very well appointed and comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The facilities both indoor and out wont disappoint. There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space if desired and the living areas and patios are very spacious and easily accommodate large groups. We had a fantastic time and cant wait to return.

Stayed for a week with friends and the house is HUGE. Had plenty of places to hide away when desired and hang out as a group also. This was my first trip to Mexico and I would warn against a few things: this is a villa, not a resort. The refrigerators don't keep everything supercold, and neither do the air conditioners. Also, the staff speaks very little English. But the staff is amazing, they understood my basic Spanish and hand motions, and they were great cooks and caretakers. The house was very clean and well cared for. The pools and beach and views were amazing.

We couldn't have asked for a better Casa. The owners have left out NO details. We had already seen all of the pictures and we were still in shock when we walked in. The place is HUGE! The more we walked around the casa the more little details we found. Someone was constantly saying "come here abd look at this". Don't bother taking a book to read, there is a mini library there with something for everyone. The whole place inside and out exceeded our expectations by a long shot. The pool is a full size pool. You can lounge on a float and read a book or you can swim if you want to. It is NOT just a dipping pool. The flora and fauna on the property are beautiful. I can not say enough good things about Casa Caribena to do it justice. The only "con" I have about our stay is that I had to leave some of the conch shells behind because I found so many and some of them were too big to bring home!!!! P.S. We stayed the end of May 2010 and the weather was beautiful.

Hearing the sound of the Ocean from your bedroom makes you sleep like a baby, If it' windy beach side, the palm trees block the wind at the big pool. The seating area by the roof top pool is great and the views are great. The room are spaceious and the decorations throughout the home are very nice. I hope to return to Casa Caribena.

Property and pool were nice. The staff is very friendly and cooking was outstanding. Good location for visiting many other areas. Very close to tulum and tulum beaches. 15 minutes to akumal. An easy drive to coba. Very rocky water entry, beach is rough crushed coral, not fine sand. Would stay again.

Very happy with our stay. Definitely need a rental car, nothing around the property. That's one of the good parts. Close drive to tulum, south tulum beaches, akumal. Easy drive to Coba.

This is an excellent rental home. Big, clean, and a wonderful location. The security guards at the gate made everyone feel secure. The staff spoke no English which is a hindrance at times. They cook and they clean and that is it. The food was adequate and freshly prepared. Being from Louisiana, it was rather bland for our tastes, but for others it may be spicy. The rooms were cleaned and prepared every day with small touches such as towels folded into animals. There is tv, stereo, and wifi for those that can't escape civilization. Overall, I would recommend this villa for rental. It is a wonderful property at a very reasonable price.

Very professional management company - I appreciate the help and all (solicited) recommendations that they made. The birthday cakes from Turtle Bay were PERFECT!! One thing I didn't know was that these were two adjoining units, one upstairs, one at beach level. We had a large party, so we were in both, but renters should be aware of that. I don't know if they rent them separately or not, but I wouldn't stay there unless I had all the (numerous) ammenities to myself. I cannot say enough good things about the staff - Lily, Preesy, and Meddi were WONDERFUL!! Food was delicious - house was VERY clean. My only compliants would be the very necessary security issues - someone actually tried to break-in while we were there - and the moldy smell in the upstairs unit. We've stayed in this area before - so the security issue wasn't new to us, it was just a little un-nerving. In response they added a security patrol - so they did everything they could to make us feel safe. This place is very well located, we did numerous ruins, snorkeled out front, visited the cenotes, took a tour to the Bio-Sphere & Siam Kaan, just a WONDERFUL trip.

Lilly and her entire family were fantastic in every way. one of my favorite times was going to Tulum to shop for groceries. Lilly took me to several local markets; one for fresh chicken, one for beef and pork, one for tortillas right off the conveyor belt and then another store for steak. We also went fishing while we were there and caught 4 barracudas. We brought some home and it was so yummy thanks to Lilly and I think her husband cooking it for us.

The Hospitality was wonderful. Meals were delicious. Weather was fabulous.
As avid divers, we travel considerably, and always stay in a villa by the water. We insist on this, as we also have snorkelers and small children who need to enjoy the beach. Very frankly, we were blown away. We had 13, including 3 small children, but all 10 adults could not have been more pleased.
Lisa prepared us so well, that no stone was left unturned during our trip. Lily and her team were the consummate hosts and cooks, even happily acquiescing to 3 late to very late night dinners due to a late arrival and two night dives that would have turned many cooks into frothing malcontents.
Lisa also gave us a nugget about the turtle sanctuary nearby, and at the appointed time, we visited the part of the beach where these behemoths lay their eggs in the dark of night. We went not once,,,not twice, but three separate times. If you stay at Casa Caribena, you HAVE to experience this.
I personally fell asleep in the hammock several times as it swayed with the afternoon Caribbean breezes, but usually, it wasn't open for me. (Next time, I might just rent the place by myself)
We rented all 6 bedrooms, so had full usage of all 3 floors, and the most enjoyable was the top deck, where we enjoyed the dipping pool after our dives each day. After cooling off, we would sit in the lounge chairs...some of us in the shade, and some worshiping the sun, but all of us basking in the welcomed breezes that picked up about that time of day. It is on this floor that I could see myself in retirement, finally getting to that book I have promised myself I would write.
