For those of us who prefer the pristine quiet beaches of the Caribbean, there are great spots in Riviera Maya that are less populated than others.
The Southern part of Akumal is one such place. Here the sand is whiter and finer and the environment hasn’t lost its pristine appeal. This location is where Akumal Breakers was strategically built.
Considered to be located in the most picturesque part of Akumal.
The villa is almost entirely made of hand-cut Mayan stone from the strong and elegant facade to the luxurious interiors of the rooms. You can’t miss it, as its opulent design stands out from the rest of the beachfront accommodations along the white sandy coast of the Akumal.
The villa was built by a famous architect from Riviera Maya and was inspired by Mayan traditions and culture. Apart from the Piedra Maya Vista stones that adorn the place, the architect also made use of Terracotta tiles which are reminiscent of traditional Mexican interiors.
Akumal Breakers villa features 4 spacious bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate 8 to 10 people and has 3 ½ baths. Out of the four bedrooms, the two that are located on the upper level are Private Suites. Both suites feature a king-size bed, a marble bathroom, and a private balcony with a magnificent view of the clear azure waters of the Caribbean. The Grand Master Suite also includes a computer desk, sitting area and a stone fireplace that adds rustic charm to this already remarkable room.
The main floor features two bedrooms, the Beach Room and the Garden Room. The “Beach Room” has a great view of the pool and, of course, the glorious white sand and the properties immaculate gardens.
The “Beach Room” has a king-sized bed while the “Garden Room” has two double beds and is a perfect place for the kids to hang out, as it comes with tons of board games, a Sony Play Station, a large TV and DVD player. The bedrooms share a full bathroom.
The sunken living room is another great place for everyone to hang out and watch movies or your favorite TV shows.
And the best part is that when you feel like snacking, you do not necessarily have to leave the house. The Akumal Breakers villa features a spacious kitchen that has all the appliances that you may need to prepare anything from delicious Chicken Quesadillas to refreshing strawberry margaritas.
And for more formal meals, there is a classy dining room just off the kitchen that can comfortably accommodate 8 people.
Apart from its amazing interiors and comfortable rooms, guests staying in Akumal Breakers will surely appreciate how the natural beauty of Riviera Maya is incorporated in the design.
The outdoor pool features a cascading waterfall and the large limestone edging makes you think of the famous cenotes found in the jungles of Akumal.
The rooftop lounge also provides a great venue, be it for lounging during an afternoon break, star-gazing in the evening or spending quiet mornings just listening to the crashing of waves on the breakers.
It is also worth mentioning that the white sandy beach and a beautiful bay protected by a stretch of coral breakers are just steps away from the villa. If you are a fan of snorkeling, swimming or kayaking, you will not have to go far. Just make sure to bring your snorkeling gear and your camera!
And whenever you feel like getting in touch with civilization, you can always take a walk to the charming town of Akumal or drive 15 miles to Tulum.
Akumal Breakers is also located in a gated neighborhood which means that security, safety and privacy are ensured 24/7.
So the bottom line is, if you are looking for something quieter, more private and more unique than a typical resort or small hotel, Akumal Breakers might be just the place for you.
When you divide the costs by 8, you will realize that a luxury vacation in an unspoiled tropical paradise is more affordable than you expected! Just don’t wait until the last moment, because even the best-kept gems may not remain secret for long! Inquire about this vacation villa in South Akumal and enjoy a little slice of heaven in the Riviera Maya.

We were at Akumal Breakers last week, with our adult kids and their spouses. We've been to Mexico many times, and this is by far the best. The house is beautiful--elegant, open and friendly, with everything we ever thought of needing, and more. There's space for everyone to have privacy, but still enjoy great times together. And the view--amazing! Step out into the beach the way you always knew it should be. Snorkeling, kayaking, star gazing, beach walking...and the view from the hammock...ah!
Mirna and Louis and just wonderful, and went out of their way to be thoughtful--and Mirna's "Akumal Breakers Barbecue" was tremendous! The house is very secluded and private, but Akumal is just up the road, if you want to run to the Super Chomack or have breakfast at Lol Ha.
It really was our favorite vacation spot ever, and we look forward to going again.

We arrived at the Villa on February 12th. The house is amazing and I honestly could not complain about anything other than we didn't want to leave. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and then some. The stain glass windows were stunning. The views from the top of the villa were beautiful. Beautiful sun rises! We throughly enjoyed the beach and pool. We could not say enough about Luis and Mirna as they were always there if we required anything. They kept the property immaculate. This has been our most enjoyable visit to Mexico and we have been there many times. This beats All Inclusive Resorts.
Can't wait to go back!!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Akumal Breakers is situated at the best spot on Akumal Sur to enjoy beach activities. There are no rocks, just beautiful soft white sand. The house has every amenity needed, AND we didn't miss any of our NHL playoff games! Myrna and Luis are professionally trained in massage, you will never feel better! We couldn't keep the kids out of the pool....but we didn't try! Our best Akumal rental ever and we will go back! The new golf course just a 5 minute drive away is amazing!

The home was open and spacious. It was very nice
to have wifi, and vonage. It was nice to have
bedrooms that viewed the ocean and pool. The swimming pool was lovely, and nice it had a deep end. The couches in living room weren't very comfortable. It would be nice to move the TV from the bar down towards the living room, it was hard
to watch TV. I always enjoy beautiful linens and
comforter( or coverlet, light duvet with cover), and this seem to be missing. The towels could be upgraded to big beautiful bath towels. The mats and rugs should also be upgraded. I think that dishes should be changed, as some had chips and cracks. It would be best to leave an assortment of condiments in cupboard. Nice to have a propane barbeque. The mattresses are a bit hard, and probably just need to switch the base that the mattress sits on.

We just returned from a wonderful week at Akumal Breakers for a girls' trip. The house is great, as is the outdoor area and beach. This villa has a lot of nice amenities--some big ones that you're expecting such as the beach, pool and A/C, but then there were a lot of nice touches that were unexpected, such as beach supplies, outdoor coolers, binoculars, etc.
The beach felt private. You can get full sun or lie under a palm tree if you want shade at both the pool or the beach. The outdoor area is set up well with a table, chairs and loungers poolside, plus another set on the beach, too. It's easy to transition from pool to beach and back, which is how we spent most of our days.
The location is great. It's easy to walk along the beach to Akumal Bay. We hung out at Akumal Bay a couple of days, but we chose to drive since we were carrying quite a bit of stuff. (The drive was very simple, as was parking. It's nice being so close.) The snorkeling at the villa is good. It's not as good as what you will see at Akumal Bay, but after walking the beach, I can tell you that I don't think you'll find a nicer beach at any other villa.
The house was a wonderful retreat when we needed it. The Apple TV was heaven for us, as we like to watch movies before bed. We usually have to bring DVDs with us, but the Apple TV allowed us to download what we wanted. They do have a collection of movies, music and books at the villa, which is a nice touch. The kitchen is great. We only ate out a couple of times, and we were able to easily make what we needed for meals and snacks. The kitchen is well stocked.
Another perk of the house is that we had our privacy. Each bedroom is quiet and has an adjacent bathroom, so with only three of us, we each had our own bed and bath. There is a separate common area half bath downstairs, which was wonderful in that none of us felt as if our bath became the "main" bathroom that everyone used during the day coming in from the pool or beach.
Mirna and Luis were very nice and helpful, yet they also managed not to be intrusive. It was a good balance of caretaking and privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our massages on the beach, too! Bottom line, after years of annual girls' trips going to other locations, we all agreed that we have found our "home" and definitely plan on being back. I highly recommend Akumal Breakers.

It was a lovely trip and the couple who run the house are incredibly sweet and accommodating. The only negative is that $50 plus food and plus taxi fare is a LOT to pay for the meals. The woman, Mirna, is incredibly sweet and lovely but not a very good cook.
