The Villa on Akumal Bay is the only property in Akumal Bay that has all the ‘perks’ of living in an exotic and posh private villa without actually renting the entire villa.
Situated on Akumal’s magnificent main beach, this Moroccan-Mediterranean style B&B has just 5 uniquely-decorated suites, perfect for couples, honeymooners or a small family. Hosting no more than 10 people at a time, it will never feel too crowded or too isolated.
All of the The Villa on Akumal Bay’s 5 suites feature easy access to the pool and the beach, a large en-suite bath, private parking, a mini fridge, A/C, satellite TV and free WiFi.
The owner lives in the main house but separate from all the suites, to ensure that all guests have their privacy.
Poseidon and Sirena Master Suites are located in the main villa and open directly to a manicured pool deck, facing the beach. Each features a king bed.
Rajkumal Suite and Hellas Room are detached from the main house and strategically built next to a 120-year-old tree that casts a cooling shadow, creating a nice retreat from the harsh midday sun.
The two-story Rajkumal Suite is probably the best option for longer stays, as it comes with a full kitchen, a dining room and living area. A Master Suite and a spacious balcony is located on the upper floor, offering elevated views of the tropical gardens and the sea beyond. This suite features a king bed.
Hellas Room is the smallest of all, featuring a queen size bed and a private bathroom. But what it lacks in size it makes up in style and romance. Its airy design seems to have been brought here from the distant and romantic islands of Greece, bringing the “Mama Mia” movie to mind.
Hellas Room, combined with Rajkumal Suite could also be a great option for couples traveling together.
Prana Bungalow is the last and, undoubtedly, the most exotic suite of all. Besides its original Balinese-Hindu design, it boasts an outdoor shower with smooth, warm stones embedded into the floor for a natural foot massage. A private terrace, coconut palm trees and a hammock, complete this perfect-getaway picture.
It’s also worth mentioning that all suites (except Suite Rajkumal, which has its own kitchen) include a continental breakfast for two that is served in the well-known Lol-Ha Restaurant, just two minutes along the beach.
Bottom line is: The Villa on Akumal Bay may be the first boutique B&B in Akumal, but it is definitely hard to beat. Prime beach location, chic suites, gorgeous pool area and restaurant-quality breakfast are just some of the reasons to check it out and add it to your inquiry early on.
Bedrooms: 5 (3 in main house, 2 in guest house). One of the main house bedrooms is private bungalow.

This year was our 10th year in Akumal for New years. We had a wonderful stay at the Tajkumal. The owner could not have been nicer. When we asked about beachchairs she went out and purchased some for us to use. We enjoyed the room, the pool and the location.

The Prana Bungalow was perfect. The room was spotless and well equipped. The location was ideal. A slight hiccup at check in with a missing key, but that was resolved quickly. The breakfast on the patio at Lo Ha was perfect each and every day. We hope to return next year.

The location was great, close to things but yet private. The room had everything we needed, except tv was a little difficult to run but who needs tv when you are in this beautiful place. Loved that the place was small and intimate, knew everyone that was staying there. Owner was helpful and friendly. Wi-Fi was also spotted but again when on vacation why do you need the internet. Akumal was a small place but good places to eat all within walking distance. Would recommend to anyone that doesn''t like the big all inclusives

Location was great, but getting there a challenge. Would be better to provide directions, as it was not easy to find this place. On the map it looked simple, but actual directions or some kind of "how to get there" would be great in the future.

"Taj Kumal" as this home is known, is a gorgeous property. Situated just a few steps away from the beach, it is a wonderful location. The rooms are exceptionally clean and nicely appointed. The pool and gardens are lovely and well maintained. There are "rules" to staying in this property that some may not agree with (no outside visitors, for example) but the rules go a long way toward helping to maintain not only the property itself, but also the calm and serene vibe. In this location you can easily walk to beach, shops and restaurants, but you also feel just slightly removed from the busyness of the beach and town. We had a wonderful stay.
