rooms were pretty much as we expected having stayed in similar what i would call decent but economical hotels in mexico many times. ac worked, beds werent luxurious but were adequate.water/shower was hot. but i have to say you wont find a room with better access/proximity to the beach as the beach front rooms at the pelicano and that was what mattered to us.kids can go direct from the room onto the beach within full view of the room entance thus supervision is just a matter of sittinf on the patio watching.

The view is by far the best thing at this hotel and the rooms are spacious. However, the mattress was hard and the towels were old. Music played right next to our suite until 2:00 a.m. We wanted to relax and that was not possible. We were told bottled water was not available.

Pelicano Inn and staff are fantastic! It has a true Mexican/Mayan feel with real hospitality. We ate breakfast every morning in the restaurant and had amazing food on the beach in the afternoon with our cocktails. The service was as good as it gets. If you are prone to take pictures of stained water fixtures or are messed up by the fact that your towel rack may be broken...find an all inclusive or stay home. The experience was real and the people were real. The bed was not my bed...but it never is when I'm not at home. If I go to Mexico again, I will stay at the Pelicano Inn.

Looking for Quiet & Relaxation
Our stay at Pelican Inn was extremely relaxing and was exactly what we know the propery to be. We stayed in a ground floor ocean-front room and the property is very quiet here... until the evening, then you experience the extremely loud party music from one property away. Normally, loud music in Playa is the norm and I wouldn't say anything about it, however this trip it over-powered your conversation if you were outside your room towards the beach-front side of the property-it didn't last late so if you leave for dinner it should be fine. From our ground level beachfront room Wifi is non-existent from inside and from the patio but all you have to do is to do is go 20' to the restaurant and you have great Wifi. Rooms are spotless, excellent staff who went out of their way no matter what we asked. They even made me a cup of coffee while they were remodeling their restaurant in the evenings. Love this property, it's central to everything in Playa and we will definitely go back!
