Every room is air conditioned and there are only five of them each with a private bathroom, table & chairs, night stand, quiet Hunter ceiling fans, air conditioning, and a small exterior porch with an angled view of Tankah Bay and the Caribbean. A daily continental breakfast is included in the price of the rooms. All rooms are located at beach level and there’s a wide sandy tanning area with beach lounges for sun worshipers right in front of the Inn. If you want to check out beautiful Tankah Bay the Inn has kayaks and snorkeling equipment.
When your daily sun and fun are done you can relax in the second floor common room~ dining room, which has a nice living room area, library of books, games, stereo system with music selection, lots of tables and chairs in the dining room section, a bar/restaurant, and a beach front terrace with a great view of greater Tankah Bay and the Caribbean. This is a lovely place to kick back and relax out of the sun but still enjoy the sea breeze, and perhaps a cocktail or cerveza. The bar is open mornings through the day and into the evening, and it is an honor system self service bar. As they say, ”We have the system, you have the honor”. The bar is conveniently located by the common area living room and ocean terrace.
Manatee cenote is a beautiful natural cenote through the mangrove (about a 3 minute walk from the hotel) and a great alternate snorkeling spot to Tankah Bay. There are plenty of fish to see and it’s quite common to see migratory birds up in the foliage. Tankah Bay is located between Akumal and Tulum, just south of Soliman Bay. For more about the beaches and destination of Tankah Bay see the links provided in the amenities list below.

I stayed at the Tankah Inn in mid February, 2011 and found it to be clean, friendly and low key. The price includes a full breakfast served until 11 am. No dinner or bar, however. The location is right on the beach where you can swim off shore to good snorkeling areas. There are kayaks available if you would rather paddle out and snorkle from closer to the barrier reef. The dive shop has closed. The owner has discovered after ten years of operating the Inn that he is alergic to the sun. He is looking for a buyer. I guess that is why he has not kept up with the dive shop or the restuarant options. The rooms are standard, with fridges and wi fi. All rooms have a king sized bed.The area is very quiet, about three miles north of Tulum, an easy drive, and away from the noise and bustle of Beach Tulum. There is a great cenote just a short walk down the road with good snorkeling and exploring.

This was our third time at the Tankah Inn B&B, and can't wait to go back again and again. Excellent rooms, staff, breakfasts made to order, great snorkeling (tons of coral, fish and huge rays) and so peaceful, especially under the palapa out front, swaying in the hammocks. At night, (the hammocks are doubles) what a romantic place to stargaze with your loved one. The prices make it one of the best values in RM. When we were there all 5 rooms were booked, and everyone felt the same way. We highly reccomend the Tankah Inn.

Tankah Inn provided the best vacation I've taken in the six years I've vacationed in Mexico. Snorkeling was super, saw a giant French Angel fish and many young and mature trunk fish. Birding is fabulous also; there's a blue grosbeak on the road about .5 k from Tankah. Breakfast was outstanding, the staff and Willie (owner) are the perfect hosts; not too intrusive but there when you need them!
