Tulum Beach, Tulum, Mexico

  • Enjoy Tulum Enchantment and a Secluded Beach

This enchanting and pleasingly-private 8-room hotel is set RIGHT on the beach. There is nothing, but soft white sand from your door to anywhere on the grounds, so wearing shoes is really optional.

All of the rooms are located in Piedra Escondida’s two-story buildings that are painted in a hue of ‘happy-yellow’, famed by large wood trunks and topped with charming palapa roofs.

The only choice that you are really faced with is – do you want to stay in an upper level queen-size room with a balcony or do you prefer a beach level room with a patio right on the beach. Both upper and lower level rooms come with private bathrooms and patio furniture (including hammocks).

Being an eco-hotel, like most of Tulum’s accommodations, Piedra Escondida hotel runs on alternative energy that gets turned off at 11:00 pm. Also, don’t expect to see TV’s, hairdryers and phones in the rooms. They take the concept of sustainability and an “unplugged vacation” seriously.

Having a private beach (a feature that ranks high on Loco Gringo’s list) is definitely a plus for those who want this slice of Caribbean paradise all to themselves. The pleasure of waking up with the sunrise, walking barefoot to the Piedra Escondida’s restaurant (just follow the aroma of freshly brewed coffee), and enjoying breakfast with the Caribbean in the background is indescribable. You have to experience it for yourself!

In the heart of  Tulum’s beach neighborhood

Besides the great on-site restaurant with an Italian flair and a beach bar, you’ll find numerous gift stores, restaurants, convenience stores and local art shops just a short walk away. While oozing a secluded, kick-back atmosphere Piedra Escondid is actually strategically-located in the heart of a micro village, making it easy to find souvenirs or a place to eat out.

If you have a car, in just 10-20 minutes you can be walking in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve, climbing the famous Tulum ruins or swiming in the cool waters of cenotes – natural freshwater pools considered sacred by the ancient Maya.

There is no doubt – “Piedra Escondida” translated as a “Hidden Stone” has all the credentials to become a “Hidden Jewel” of Riviera Maya. So make sure that you Add it to Your Inquiry ASAP, because there are only 8 rooms and they get booked quickly!
