  • Organic Yoga is a Rustic Cozy Place Near Akumal

If you feel you need time and space to slow down, reconnect with nature and embrace a little yoga, and soul-soothing meditations, Organic Yoga is THE place to go!

Touristy resorts and commercialized hotels left behind, this eco retreat is tucked away in the tropical jungle near Akumal (just a short drive away from the beach).

The name “Organic Yoga” sums up pretty well the main philosophy of the place – it’s all about conservation, ecology and healthy lifestyle.

Eco-designed bungalows for the yogini or nature lover

Each of the 4 Organic Yoga guest casitas was built using local materials with an eye to aesthetic beauty.  Modern comforts such as 24-hour electricity, purified water and air conditioning (a luxury in the jungle) are provided. Rustic, earthy and natural the casitas can accommodate from 2 to 6 people.

Each features a private bathroom, a small refrigerator, a coffee maker and a screened furnished terrace facing the jungle. The Ganesh Casita and Hannuman House have private kitchens, while Shakti and Shiva bungalows share their own large kitchen.

Yoga retreats and workshops are Organic Yoga’s passion

What about the yoga sessions? There is a spacious Maloka Yoga Palapa with a fire pit in the center. Designed for seminars, yoga retreats, meditations and workshops it is a great space to get together, meditate or simply sit in silence, and feel your work stress and tension melt away.  Leon, the owner and a certified yoga teacher, holds free yoga classes at Maloka Yoga Palapa every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8:30 am.

Not just a place to relax, meditate and do yoga, this jungle retreat has the needs of nature aficionados covered as well. Hike down the jungle trails, swim in the cenote (natural water spring) and admire the tropical birds and exotic plants.

If you’re in the mood for some sightseeing or lazing on the beach, the town of Akumal, with its dive shops, restaurants and white-sand beach is just 15-minute drive away!
