Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, Que Onda Restaurant in North Akumal offers a taco bar featuring tacos al pastor (delicious pork cooked over an open flame and seasoned with pineapple) and tacos de res (beef).  That's a margarita in the picture, mighty fine one too! Akumal has a new Mexican kitchen on the north end of the Akumal road. Las 3 Acapulqueñas is a good, inexpensive (around $50 pesos  per person) breakfast or lunch.  Like mama's kitchen, the menu changes daily.  Classic Mexican comfort food like chicken fajitas, empanadas, and panuchos are regular items.  Stop in on the way to Yalku Lagoon or bring your own "to go" plates or Tupperware and take it back to your villa or condo.
