Cochinita Pibil Tacos

Merida might be THE place for the best cochinita pibil in the country but we have other great places in Riviera Maya. Taqueria Honorio in Tulum honors this delicious option. Located in Tulum pueblo on Satélite Sur Street. Opens usually from 6:00am to 2:00pm daily. They have other type of tacos but the favorite are definitely the cochinita pibil tacos. Meson Del Marques restaurant in Valladolid is the place to find the best cochinita pibil tacos. And also other delicious options like stuffed chiles with rice and beans. The place is opens at 7:00am until 11:00pm from Sunday to Saturday. Lastly, if you find yourself in Playa del Carmen you should also stop for cochinita pibil tacos. La Cochi-Loka taco stand is located on 10th Street between 5th and 10th Avenue. And the best thing is they are open 24/7! So it doesn´t matter if you are ending your party night, you can stop for some delicious tacos.

Pozole

Authentic Pozole Stew

This delicious stew with seasoned pork and white corn, is known in Mexico as the cure for all hangovers. It is served with shredded lettuce, onion, avocado, limes and salsa. Experts say the spicier the faster heals the hangover since it will make you sweat. It is no surprise that can be found usually on Sunday mornings at Mexican traditional restaurants and fonditas. In Akumal Bay is served at Lol-Ha restaurant on Sundays of course. And it can be also found in its vegan version with mushrooms instead of pork. At La Senda restaurant in Playa del Carmen every Thursday. Located on 10th Avenue between 10th and 12th street.

Hot Tamale

Tamales are famous worldwide and it is no surprise that we find really good ones in the Yucatan peninsula. Which is basically the home of the tamale. There are very few restaurants that offer tamales but to be honest the best ones are found in small stands on the street. In Tulum you can find the greatest variety of tamales: Chaya (similar to spinach), beans, pork, chicken and more! The stand is called Tamales Don Taco and you will find it in Tulum pueblo on Beta Sur street and Tulum main Avenue. The stand is open daily from 4pm to 10pm. Playa del Carmen is also home of the most delicious tamales; chicken, pork and our favorite: cheese and peppers. The stand has no name but you find the lady with a huge pot full of tamales right on 30th Avenue between 38th and 40th street. Every day from 6:00pm until midnight (or until they run out of tamales). If you prefer to have any of these deliciousness at the comfort of your vacation home. We can definitely request any of our local Chefs to prepare a traditional Mexican meal during your vacation.
