This magificent property is one of few fully restored haciendas in the Yucatan Peninsula. There is a deep sense of history here near Mérida, the oldest colonial city in the Yucatan and a cultural destination in its own right. Daily activities at Hacienda Xcanatun include leisurely strolls through three acres of exotic gardens, just relaxing by the swimming pool, or adventure sight seeing tours to ancient Mayan ruins, magnificent colonial churches and plazas, and natural wonders like Yucatan's cenotes (natural freshwater wells used by the Maya) and nature reserves.
Great location for exploring Yucatan Hacienda Xcanatun is near Mérida and its many points of interest as well as Mayan archaeological sites. There are other colonial cities and Mayan towns to explore nearby. Xcanatun offers an excellent retreat and starting point for traveling the Mayan "Ruta Puuc" which includes the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Uxmal. There is also the "Convent Route" including numerous 17th century churches in little known townships and the massive convent at Izamal. The natural beauty of the "Emerald Coast" is to the west, including Celestun, Progresso and San Felipe. There is easy access to Hacienda Xcanatun from the international airports in Cancún and Mérida (Merida being much closer).
