These beach bungalows are ecological sensitive and entirely alternate energy, with solar panels to provide electricity for the lighting. This location would be perfect for a natural sea side spa, and in fact, that is essentially what Posada Margherita is; a place to relax and unwind. Perched on the sand of the primary dune, the bungalows are one and two stories, arranged in a village-like setting amidst the natural palms and plants that grow along the sea shore. They all have thatched roofs, hardwood porches or terraces, tiled floors accented with smooth river stones, and each has a private bathroom. The atmosphere is one of sheer relaxation and tranquility, a perfect place to rejuvenate and renew. Posada Margherita also has rooms to accommodate the physically challenged with special user-friendly bathrooms, ramps and walkways to access the resorts areas.

For those who want to be pampered relaxing massage is offered. Relaxing and stimulating at the same time, you can enjoy the latest techniques from Europe, on the beach to the soothing sounds of the ocean. And for the energetic, Posada Margherita also offers scuba diving excursions. Dives are offered on Tulum's coral reef which is part of the vast coastal barrier reef system that stretches from Cancun to Honduras.

Italian restaurant The resort is Italian owned and has a wonderful bar/restaurant facing the Caribbean. Delicious handmade fresh pasta dishes, seafood and other specialties are offered as well as a selection of wines, cervezas and cocktails. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served including international breakfast, pasta with fish or vegetables and traditional vegetable and fruit salads. The pasta is made fresh every day at the resort. A step off the restaurant's deck puts you out on the sand where there is rarely anyone around. Sunbathing and beach combing are absolutely superb. Tulum is famous for its beaches. This ribbon of soft white powdery sand stretches for miles in either direction.

Tulum beach The resort is located on the Boca Paila/ Punta Allen coco road, south of the Mayan ruins of Tulum on the southern end of the Riviera Maya, one hour and 30 minutes south of Cancun. Day trip adventures should include a visit to more beaches nearby, north and south, a mandatory trip to the Tulum ruins a few kilometers north, a ride down into the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve just a little south, plus the possibility of going to some of Tulum's cenotes (natural freshwater pools) for snorkeling or a guided tour of the underwater caverns. There is also the Mayan ruins of Coba and Muyil, or even a trip out on Laguna Chunyaxche by the Muyil ruins. In the pueblo of Tulum you will find a variety of bar/restaurants, stores, produce markets selling fresh fruits and vegetables, gift stores, a post office, money exchange and just about anything else you could need. Nightlife in the pueblo has increased greatly with various international and regional Mexican bistros and a couple discos. Tulum pueblo at night is aglow with colored lights and the sound of music. For more nightlife and dancing the beach town of Playa del Carmen is 40 minutes north, where there are countless opportunities to party till dawn.

Guestbook comment..
Lili and I just wanted to send you a note telling you what a great time we had at Posada Margherita. Alesandro and the staff are top-shelf people, as well as wonderful hosts. The food was delicious. They treated us more like family than simply patron-guests. We left feeling that we had made new friends and had truly memorable experiences. Lili already wants to go back. You'll be hearing from us again in the not too distant future. -Tony in New York
