Cobá Express
Visit Coba in a quick but enjoyable tour. A half day discovering the archaeological site that came to light only a few decades ago after a hurricane and even today only 3% of its grandeur is open to the public. Inside the site you will be able to walk through the jungle whilst admiring the Mayan ruins still semi-covered by vegetation. But the most exciting part is being able to climb the highest pyramid in the Yucatan; the 42m high 'Nohoch Mul' with its hand hewn steps take you to the summit where you are rewarded by an incredible panorama view of the area. Cobá Aldea Maya
In one full day it is possible to visit a Mayan village, a spectacular cenote, and the archaeological site of Coba. Aktun Chen Cenote / Zip Line
The park of Aktun Chen lies just 21km from Tulum and 42km form Playa del Carmen. There you can find local flora and fauna, cenotes, caves, and be enthralled by an amazing system of ziplines through the Yucatan jungle. The circuit of 10 ziplines covers a distance of 1km in all, flying above the vegetation. You will also visita n incredibile cave formed 5 million years ago and be able to admire the stalagmites and stalactites and various rock sculptures formed over the process of time as you follow an underground river. Rio Secreto
Rio Secreto is a semi-flooded cave with stalagmites and stalactites that appear made from preciouos stones. Over a process of thousands of years as water was slowly filtrated through the roof, the rocks were slowly transformed into the magnificent formations that are there for us today. This underwater paradise can be found just 10km south of Playa del Carmen and although there is 10km of cave systerm discovered so far, only 1.5km are opne to the public. Your professional guide will lead you inot this prehistoric world where you will walk explore and swim for approx 1hr 30 min. Group size maximum 6 people. Mayan Ceremony
Highly recommended experience at the legendary and traditional Mayan community of 'Dos Palmas'. Biosfera Sian Ka'an
The Biosphere of Sian Ka'an became a national park in 1986 and under the protection of UNESCO in 1987 and is one of the most amazing natural gifts of the Caribbean, covering an area of more than 5280 sq. km over land and sea. Sian Ka'an in the Mayan language means "where the sky is born", because the color of the ocean blends with the color of the sky. It is a sacred place for the Maya and amongst and mangroves and lagunas there are more than 35 small Maya ruins and altars. The first part of the excursion is a transfer in mini-van from your hotel to Tulum, where groups of 4 people then get to drive themselves in a comfortable Jeep. They are accompanied by a guide along the dirt road in the Biosphere that leads them to the fishing village of Punta Allen. Along the road they will cross the famous bridge of Boca Paila that divides the laguna from the waters of the Caribbean. Upon arrival at Punta Allen refreshments are served in one of the local restaurants before setting off in the small motorboats (max. 6 people per boat) with a local fisherman acting as your captain to start the excursion of your dreams. You will be taken to the amazing laguna in the Biosphere where you can admire 'bird island' and see cormorant, pelicans, frigates, osprey amongst other species of birds found there. You will then pass through the mangrove canals to the 'black lagoon' where the fisherman will take their boats when the threat of a hurricane arrives. From the laguna to the magnificent ocean that is the Caribbean and along the way relax and take in the amazing colors and sun, sea and sky of this pristine paradise. You will have the chance to do some unforgettable snorkeling on this magnificent part of the coral reef rich in color, various corals, tropical fish and even lobster. Dos Ojos Cenote
The Dos Ojos cenote is part of a system of underwater caves situated less than 15km from Tulum and from the National Geographic documentary filmed there the world was introduced to the word 'cenote'. The main caves of the system are 'Ojo Uno' (one eye) and 'Ojo Dos' (two eyes) which are two enormous circular holes in the round (in the satellite view they appear very similar to the shape of eyes). In Ojo Uno, the lager cave, there is a pool with a depth of more than 13m. Ojo Dos is connected to Ojo Uno by an underwater tunnel which can be explored by scuba diving. The water temperature for snorkelling is approx. 24° Celcius (77°F) the whole year round. The 'Bat Cave' is connected to Ojo Uno by a short semi-submerged tunel and it is possibile to swim through this with mask and snorkel. There is also a metal stairway which descends down the side of the marvellous Bat Cave. The snorkel tour which is offered by the park is one of the most amazing in the Riviera Maya and gives you a chance to see and admire the wonder and beauty of the thousands of stalagmites and stalactites within.
