This is not your average beach front villa. Villa Luminosa has a rather unique configuration with an interior lower level breezeway just off the ocean side swimming pool. Instead of the usual glass sliders to enclose this interior space large wooden doors have been used. They fold back to the wall during the day and should be closed and locked at night, or when the guests are not using the pool area. The open air nature of the breezeway really puts you in touch with the sea front environment.
The lower level is where you will spend much of your time in this villa, enjoying the pool and beach. The breezeway is equipped with a stainless steel gas grill, kitchen sink and counter space, making a functional area for cook-ins (as opposed to cook-outs) and there is a large hardwood dining table inside that seats eight. By the pool are hardwood lounging chairs and a cement terrace that's about a meter above ground level. Stairs lead down to a sand path that goes a few feet to the beach.
Two identical lower level bedrooms are just off the breezeway. Both are air conditioned and have glass sliders to the pool terrace. These two bedrooms have mini efficiency kitchenettes with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, dishes and glassware. This is convenient considering that the main kitchen and dining room are on the upper level. Each of these bedrooms has one king bed, one single bed and a private bathroom.
The upper level is the main interior living space with a full kitchen, interior dining room, living room and ocean view terrace. Facing the living room is a wall mounted flat screen TV with satellite service, an iPod dock and WiFi internet modem. There is a second dining table that seats six to eight people on the terrace for ocean view meals.
Two upper level bedrooms are on either side of the living room. Each is air conditioned and has a slider to the ocean terrace, and each has a private bathroom. One bedroom has a king size bed and the other has two queens.
The rooftop observation deck has a wet bar, a built-in table with chairs under a shade arbor, and a built-in couch with a low table right in front of the sea view. Sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular from the rooftop!
Nearby in central Tankah Bay are two restaurants and Manatee cenote for a swim in calm sweet water. Tulum is 10 minutes south and Akumal, about 15 minutes north.
