Your privacy is assured as palm trees and natural beach vegetation abound in this Riviera Maya paradise. The beach is sandy here and the protected bay offers good snorkeling. Yamulkan's vaulted palapa roof is accented by stone and exposed beam architecture in its interior giving the house an open spacious feel inside.
The observation deck is a great place to view the blue waters of Soliman Bay; perfect for a relaxing margarita in the shade of the palapa roof, and the sea breeze is virtually constant. At ground level there is a large covered verandah on the beach side of the house for dining and relaxing. The living area and full sized kitchen open to the verandah, sand and beach.
The kitchen, dining and living room The well equipped kitchen has a raised breakfast counter that separates it from the dining room, whose handsome local two-tone hardwood table seats 10 persons (12 in a pinch). The dining room leads to the living room creating an open spaciousness which in turn opens to the exterior ocean side shade terrace. Decor includes original oil paintings and unusual Mexican crafts. A bookcase has an assortment of books for your reading pleasure. For your entertainment the house has satellite TV and a DVD player (please bring your own movies).
The exterior terrace extends along the front of the house, perfect for breakfast or just enjoying the view toward the beach. Above the terrace is a very large open verandah made of local hardwood which is covered by an extension of the palapa roof. This verandah is lovely for just sitting, reading or gazing at the sea view.
Two bedrooms and a studio (which can be a bedroom when needed) are on beach level. Each has a stucco ceiling and both bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. Each has a king bed and its own bathroom. The studio has a desk, SKY satellite TV, CD stereo, a bathroom and a futon sofa which can sleep be used as a sleeping room when needed. On the upper level there is a large room running the entire depth of the house with windows covering one side. It has an open-air terrace, bathroom, kitchenette, and the furnishings includes two couches that are quite comfortable for sleeping. This room is accessed by an exterior stairway and has a sea view. Because it has a palapa roof it does not have air conditioning, but it does get a lovely sea breeze, and it has two ceiling fans.
On the upper level are two sleeping areas covered by a palapa roof there that sharing a bathroom. One has a double bed and the other has two twin beds. Each has a great breeze and views of the greenery, and the bay in the distance. Each bedroom area has a ceiling fan hanging from the palapa both have a balcony overlook of the living/dining room.
There is also a spacious private entrance sleeping area off the upstairs veranda with large windows for the sea breeze. it's perfect for guests seeking a little more privacy from the main living/sleeping areas. It has a queen bed, mahogany writing table, chairs, sofa and coffee table. There is a bathroom with shower, a private terrace with table and chairs, and a view of Soliman bay. There is palapa with ceiling fan rather than air conditioning.
If necessary, guests can use a separate little second-floor apartment by the road which has its own kitchen and palapa topped terrace.
There are also two kayaks, a gas grill and three friendly dogs who come with the house.
Beach and lounge chairs are provided for your sunbathing comfort as well as a shade palapa on the beach. Coconut palms provide some natural shade. The beach is pure sand in front and the bay is well known for excellent snorkeling and kayaking. Two kayaks are provided for cruising the bay. Maid service is 6 days a week by the on-site staff.
Soliman is also a great location to explore the coast as many attractions are nearby, including Hidden Worlds Cenote for cave snorkel/diving; Actun Chen dry cave, and the Tulum ruins. The town of Tulum has great for shopping and several good restaurants.
